Yep, the U.S. government is still shutdown.
On Day 8 of the federal government shutdown, the Senate voted along party lines (47-52) blocking the Democrats’ short-term funding bill for a sixth time.
Their continuing resolution would reopen the government, funding it through October 31 and extending expiring health care tax credits. 60 votes were needed.
Then, another vote was held on the House-passed GOP short-term funding bill for a sixth time. That CR would reopen the federal gov’t, funding it through November 21, but no changes to any spending.
60 votes were needed, but came up short on a 54-45 vote. Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Angus King (I-Maine) and John Fetterman (D-Pa.) voted with Republicans, and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) voted against.
