LGBTQ Nation: Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) snuck an anti-trans bathroom ban at the U.S. Capitol into the January 3 edition of the Congressional Record stating that access to all gendered facilities at the Capitol complex will be based on “biological sex.” • JoeMyGod: Pierre Poilievre, Conservative Party leader and very possibly the next prime minister of Canada says, “Canada will never be the 51st state,” despite Donald Trump’s recent ramblings.

New York Times: The House passed a bill on Tuesday that would target undocumented immigrants charged with nonviolent crimes for deportation. The measure was approved by all House Republicans and 48 Democrats. The legislation appears to have bipartisan support in the Senate. • Yahoo News:  Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the first out gay Cabinet member to be confirmed by the Senate, is set to be replaced by anti-LGBTQ former reality TV personality and congressman, Sean Duffy.
