Some news items you might have missed: • CNN: A record number of ballots (252,000) have been cast in Georgia’s first day of early voting, according to Gabe Sterling of the Georgia secretary of state’s office. The previous first day record was 136,000 in 2020.

Tim Walz (D-MN) to reinstate so-called conversion therapy in Minnesota. The dangerous practice, which aims to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity, has been outlawed in more than 2 dozen states. • CBS News: More than 800 former service members discharged under the homophobic “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy have had their status upgraded to “honorable discharge” after a yearlong review. • The Hill: Donald Trump’s former Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, said Monday the public should take Trump “seriously” when he suggests using the military against American citizens. • NBC News: A new survey by NBC News shows 47% of registered voters plan to vote early (20% by mail and 27% in person). Five percent said they’d already cast their ballots. Vice President Kamala Harris has a 17-point lead among those who plan to vote before Election Day.
