L-R Trevor Noah, President Joe Biden (screen captures) President Joe Biden poked fun at himself, took jabs at the GOP, and commented on the current political climate in the United States at the 2022 White House Correspondents’ Dinner last night. “I’m really excited to be here tonight with the only group of Americans with a lower approval rating than I have.” Biden noted that he was the first president to attend the charity event – which raises money for journalism scholarships – in 6 years. Biden admitted, though, that it was understandable. “We had a horrible plague followed by two years of Covid,” he joked. Biden also asked attendees to imagine if TFG had been convinced to attend this year. “Now that would have been a real coup if that occurred,” he said, mocking Trump’s efforts to overturn the election he lost to Biden in 2020. Trump famously did not attend the event all four years of his administration. The dinner has a tradition of lampooning political figures in Washington, and clearly Trump’s thin skin wasn’t going to survive the jokes.
