Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) Illinois Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger called the ongoing efforts by Donald Trump and certain House Republicans to overturn the election of President-elect Joe Biden a “scam” today on CNN. From Politico:
Kinzinger, speaking Sunday morning on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said: “The reality is there is no impetus to overthrow an election,” and added that even if there were reasons to do so, there is not a constitutional mechanism to overturn a presidential election after states have formally certified their results.
He went on to say that Trump and certain members of Congress are “getting retweets, they’re getting followers and they’re raising money on this scam.”
“It is a scam and it is going to disappoint the people that believe this election was stolen, that think this is an opportunity to change it,” he added.
President-elect Joe Biden won the presidential election with 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232 votes.

The two Democratic candidates in the Georgia Senate runoff races for U.S. Senate are far outpacing their Republican opponents in fundraising. From Fox News:
Democrat Jon Ossoff, who is taking on Republican Sen. David Perdue, took in more than $106 million from Oct. 15 through Dec. 16, according to his latest campaign finance report.
The Rev. Raphael Warnock, the Democrat trying to unseat Sen. Kelly Loeffler, was close behind with a little over $103 million.
Perdue reported $68 million over the same two-month span, with Loeffler collecting just under $64 million. Three of the campaigns reported their financial data on Thursday. Loeffler submitted hers a day earlier.
The two races will determine which party will control the Senate in 2021. If the Democrats win both seats, there will be 50 Dems and 50 Republicans in the chamber, but with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris – who serves as president of the Senate – control would swing to the Democrats.
Donald Trump tweeted today criticism about the pandemic situation in California adding that Florida is “open & doing well.” According to the Orlando Sentinel, Florida added 17,042 positive COVID-19 cases today bringing its total to 1,264,588 as the death toll from the virus has risen to 21,135. The Sunshine State has a population of around 21.5 million, which breaks down to one in 17 people in the state who have now tested positive for the virus. California has almost double the population (39.5 million) of Florida and has fewer cases per capita than Florida. Across the U.S., one in 18 have tested positive for the virus, and one in 98 globally. So, no – that’s not doing “well.”
The lockdowns in Democrat run states are absolutely ruining the lives of so many people – Far more than the damage that would be caused by the China Virus. Cases in California have risen despite the lockdown, yet Florida & others are open & doing well. Common sense please!

While approximately 14 million Americans are facing the expiration of their unemployment benefits today, Donald Trump is maintaining a full schedule of golf and griping about his failed reelection attempt. Trump surprised Congress by denouncing the recent COVID relief bill which was considered a done deal after being hammered out between House and Senate leaders alongside Trump’s own Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin. After the passage of the stimulus package, which would extend unemployment benefits for those affected by the pandemic, Donald Trump threw a grenade into the negotiations demanding $2,000 payments to eligible Americans. Democrats say they are down for the increased checks, but Republicans have said that figure is dead on arrival in the Senate. Trump also wants legal protections for tech companies (like Twitter which has regularly tagged his tweets as ‘disinformation’) to be terminated so they can be sued. CBS News reported that the coronavirus relief and government spending bill was being flown to Florida Thursday evening for the president to sign — or veto — should he choose to do so. Amid his post-Christmas Twitter rant, Trump blamed Republicans for not fighting to overturn the results of the presidential election, as well as the “Justice” department and the FBI. The Donald also attacked the Supreme Court for refusing to take a look at “absolute proof” of “massive election fraud” that allegedly took place. Meanwhile, dozens of Team Trump lawsuits have failed in courts across the nation. Many of those challenges were ruled against by Republican-appointed judges, and even Trump appointees.

Donald Trump continued his barrage against Twitter on Christmas Eve, tweeting that the social media company is “going wild with their flags” and “trying hard to suppress even the truth,” which seems to be alluding to his continued baseless claims that there was rampant voter fraud (there wasn’t). Trump repeated his call for terminating Section 230, a legal clause in the Communications Decency Act which shields social media companies from being liable for content posted on their platforms by third parties. Trump opposes the protections, basically, because he wants to sue Twitter (from whence his power comes) for flagging his posts as ‘misinformation.’

Twitter will hopefully suspend or ban Trump from Twitter on January 20. That would be a wise move given how much Trump has abused the rules of this platform.
Trump also went after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for acknowledging President-elect Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election. Trump railed at his own fellow Republicans as they “sit back and watch” Trump try and overturn the fairly won election.

The perfect recording for Christmas Eve. Years ago, when I was a struggling actor in NYC, my best friend Carlye discovered Mannheim Steamroller’s first holiday album, Christmas. Mannheim Steamroller’s founder, Chip Davis, had found the perfect formula of light, airy instrumental versions of favorite holiday songs. The first time Carlye played this for me, we were huddled up in our sweats about 10 pm on Christmas Eve. With only candles lit in our small one-bedroom apartment, and our version of “egg nog” – egg nog, amaretto, and a bit of vanilla bean ice cream – we sat quietly enjoying our inexpensive real Christmas tree as this played out in the shadows. The last-minute or so always leads me to imagine Santa and the elves working through the winter, getting ready for the big night. And as the toy piano and jingle bells play, the wind at the north pole whips up to send him out into the night. To this day, one of my favorite memories AND traditions, thanks to my BFF Carlye. Looking back at how little we thought we had, it’s amazing to know how much we really did. Happy Christmas everyone.
