Lawmakers in the Pennsylvania House have approved legislation that would enshrine nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people into state law.

The Pentagon has asked Congress to codify its “Department of War” renaming and requested nearly $52 million to complete the name change.

The U.S. Supreme Court struck down a majority Black congressional district in Louisiana today. The ruling essentially waters down the Voting Rights Act (VRA), the landmark civil rights law.

• Politico: Former Rep. Barney Frank, the first member of Congress to come out as gay while in office, has entered hospice care at his home in Maine.
