Trevor Project: Two-Thirds Of LGBTQ Youth Want To Move Out Of Florida
A new report from The Trevor Project, a nonprofit that provides crisis support for LGBTQ young people, found less than half of young LGBTQ Floridians (48%) feel the community they live in was accepting of their gender identity or sexual orientation. The survey, of almost 1,000 young LGBTQ Floridians about their mental health, also found more than two-thirds (69%) of respondents say they (or family members) have considered moving out of Florida because of LGBTQ-related politics and laws. Trump Administration Withdraws From UN LGBTQ Rights Group
During his first term in the White House, Trump claimed that decriminalizing homosexuality worldwide was a major goal. At the time, LGBTQ advocates called the initiative a “sham” campaign that didn’t actually do anything. But it gave Team Trump ammunition to claim that the administration wasn’t anti-LGBTQ. But now, in his second term, the United States has withdrawn from the United Nations LGBTI Core Group, a group of more than 40 countries actively supporting the rights of LGBTQ and intersex people globally.
