Hypocrisy: Alabama Evangelical Youth Pastor Arrested On Child Sex Charges

Paul Edward Acton Bowen

Yet another evangelical hypocrite has been arrested on child sex charges. This time its an Alabama youth pastor.

From AL.com:

Paul Edward Acton Bowen, a 37-year-old Gadsden native who now lives in Etowah County’s Southside community, was taken into custody by Hoover police about 12:35 p.m.

The founder of Acton Bowen Outreach Ministries is charged with second-degree sodomy, enticing a child to enter a vehicle or house for immoral purposes, and second-degree sex abuse.

The victim was a young male, but police did not release his age except to say he is over 12 and under 16.

Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said the department’s Special Victim’s Unit first launched an investigation three weeks ago. The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office issued the warrants on Monday.

“This is certainly one of the more disturbing cases that we’ve investigated in quite some time,” Rector said. “Mr. Bowen is in a highly-respected position of influence and he is trusted by many. We believe he betrayed that trust in the worst kind of way.”

Bowen was taken into custody in Pelham and transported to the Hoover City Jail. He was moved to the Jefferson County Jail where he was released early Wednesday on $90,300 bond.

Louisiana: 10 GOP Lawmakers Vote To Keep Bestiality Legal But Outlaw Gay Sex

(image via Flickr – Photographer Tila Monto)

Oh dear.

During voting yesterday in the Louisiana state Senate, 10 Republican lawmakers voted against a measure that would strip out the crime of bestiality from Louisiana’s outdated and unconstitutional sodomy law and make the act illegal as a separate law.

But the inclusion of one line in the legislation –  “Anal sexual intercourse between two human beings shall not be deemed as a crime” – was too much for 10 Republican lawmakers.

So, they voted for bestiality in order to keep oral and anal sex (known as “crimes against nature”) illegal.

As New Orleans state Sen. JP Morrell, who sponsored the bill, said at the time, “God forbid you vote against this bill, good luck explaining it.”

Since the sodomy portion of current law has been deemed unconstitutional and therefore unenforceable, Morrell’s bill would strip out the bestiality aspect to make the crime of sex with an animal illegal and allow authorities to prosecute the crime.

The bill passed by a vote of 25-10.

Whew.

The measure now heads to the state House.

Miami Beach Gay Bashers Charged With Aggravated Felony Battery

Four men accused of a violent gay bashing after Miami Beach Pride this past Sunday have been released on bond after being arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery.

Miami’s local ABC affiliate WSVN reports that the young men accused of a violent gay bashing after Miami Beach Pride this past Sunday have been released on bond after being arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery.

The four men — who police identified as 20-year-old Luis Alonso, 21-year-old Adonis Diaz, 21-year-old Juan C. Lopez and 21-year-old Pablo Reinaldo Romo — bonded out of jail on Wednesday. According to a Miami Beach Police spokesperson, all four men are facing aggravated battery felony charges.

Each of the four men were being held on $7,500 bond.

Surveillance cameras outside the Miami Beach bathroom, located near the beach along Ocean Drive and Sixth Street, recorded the assault on Sunday night.

Investigators said the subjects yelled an anti-gay slur in Spanish before the brawl ensued.

The State Attorney’s Office is still deciding whether the suspects will be charged with a hate crime.

You can find my original reports on the attack here and here.

Florida State Attorney Kathy Rundle promises all hate crime aspects of the attack will be evaluated throughly.

Speaker Of The House Paul Ryan Announces He Will Not Run For Re-Election

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan

Confirming months of rumors, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan announced this morning that he will not run for re-election in the November mid-term elections.

From The New York Times:

Mr. Ryan said he will serve until the end of this Congress in January, which will mark 20 years in Congress. He insisted he will be “leaving this majority in good hands with what I believe is a very bright future.”

But his retirement, at the age of 48, is sure to kick off a succession battle for the leadership of the House Republican Conference, likely between the House majority leader, Kevin McCarthy of California, and the House majority whip, Steve Scalise of Louisiana. And it could also trigger another wave of retirements among Republicans not eager to face angry voters in the fall and taking their cue from Mr. Ryan.

The announcement from Ryan marked the 40th House Republican to signal retirement ahead of what looks like a tough mid-term election cycle for the GOP. Only 19 Democrats have announced they won’t seek re-election.

Coming just an hour after Ryan, GOP Rep. Dennis Ross of Florida also declared his time in Congress would come to an end after the mid-terms.

Many political experts posit that after finally achieving his lifelong dream of tax reform, Ryan had no appetite to return to the minority should the Democrats retake control of the House this fall.

The front-runner for the GOP nomination for Ryan’s seat is apparently an anti-Semitic, white supremacist named Paul Nehlen. According to ThinkProgress.com he’s been kicked off Twitter and Breitbart for his offensive chatter.

Trump Threatens Syria & Russia: Our Missiles “Will Be Coming, Nice And New And “Smart!”

Donald Trump appeared to threaten Syria and Russia Wednesday morning in a tweet post that vowed missiles fired at Syria “will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!'”

From The New York Times:

President Trump put Syria and Russia on notice Wednesday morning in a Twitter post, promising that missiles fired at Syria “will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’” and telling the Kremlin that it should not partner with a “Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!” After the threat, the president said in a separate tweet that relations between the United States and Russia are worse than ever.

On Tuesday, the Russian ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, warned the United States and its allies that any missiles fired at Syria would be shot down, according to a Reuters report. There were already indications that Syria was moving key aircraft to a Russian base in the Mediterranean Sea, taking pains to protect important weapons systems.

Remember when Trump said attacking Syria would lead to “very bad things happening?”

And remember when Trump tweeted that “broadcasting” our military moves wasn’t smart?

20/20 Promo: James Comey Compares Trump To “A Mob Boss”

If there was any doubt that former FBI Director James Comey’s upcoming book, A Higher Loyalty, would be a bestseller, this is all you need to know:

Axios is reporting that Comey has taped an exclusive interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, set to air Sunday at 10 p.m. as a “20/20” special.

Sources tell Axios the one-on-one with Comey is “going to shock the president and his team.”

In an ABC promo, Stephanopoulos says Comey compared Trump to “a mob boss.”

Comey’s book, “A Higher Loyalty,” is out next Tuesday. He taped the interview Monday at his Washington-area home.

According to the source:

The Comey interview left people in the room stunned — he told George things that he’s never said before.

Some described the experience as surreal. The question will be how to fit it all into a one-hour show.

Comey answered every question.

If anyone wonders if Comey will go there, he goes there.

The 20/20 interview will be Comey’s first since being fired almost a year ago.

Here’s the promo that aired last night during Trumpers’ favorite sitcom, Roseanne.

Miami Beach Gay Bashers Surrender To Police

The four men arrested for violent post-Pride hate crime on Sunday

The Miami Beach Police Department announced this evening that the four men caught on surveillance video violently attacking two gay men after the city’s Pride Parade on Sunday afternoon have turned themselves in through an attorney.

The four men – identified as Juan C. Lopez, Adonis Diaz, Pablo Reinaldo Romo, all 21, and Luis M. Alonso, 20 – will likely face felony assault charges.

According to reports earlier today, the police were considering the attack a hate crime as at least one of the assailants used the Spanish word for “faggot” as punches were thrown.

The victims, Rene Chalarca and Dmitry Logunov, attempted to escape but were chased by the four attackers. A passerby who witnessed the attack tried to stop the men but was beaten and left bloody himself with several cuts and bruises needing medical attention.

Unfortunately, with the news of the arrests also comes disturbing reports about the anti-gay attitude of the Miami Beach Police officers who answered the call.

From South Florida Gay News:

At one point a female officer told Logunov to “stop the drama, shut the fuck up.” Another officer repeated that to him a few minutes later. One of the officers also told him to “put ice on your face at home and you’ll be alright.”

“This is a terrible crime, as such, we are dedicating our full efforts to capturing the attackers. The Miami Beach Police Department prides itself on its inclusion of everyone,” a spokesperson for the Miami Beach Police Department said. “If anyone feels mistreated by any of our officers, they are encouraged to contact MBPD’s Internal Affairs unit so that any complaint can be addressed immediately.”

Miami Beach City Commissioner Michael Gongora also weighed in saying “I am disturbed by this and have sent to the Police Chief for investigation. Being Miami Beach’s first and only openly gay commissioner it’s important to me that our community be safe and treated well – especially during Gay Pride.”

Later after an ambulance arrived the paramedics treated the couple at the scene and also told them they’d be OK and to just go home, put ice on their faces, or they could pay $800 and go to the hospital.

The paramedics, though, were wrong.

Later the couple decided to go to the hospital on their own, where it was discovered Chalarca had a broken tear duct and was told to try not to cry or get emotional. He may need surgery.

Trump’s Lawyer Says He Would Have Handled Stormy Daniels Payments Differently

Michael Cohen

While Donald Trump angrily ranted the the FBI “broke into the office” of Michael Cohen, his personal attorney, Cohen’s take on the events depict a different scene.

In his first comments since the raid, Cohen told CNN today the FBI agents “were extremely professional, courteous and respectful.”

“I am unhappy to have my personal residence and office raided. But I will tell you that members of the FBI that conducted the search and seizure were all extremely professional, courteous and respectful. And I thanked them at the conclusion,” Cohen said in a phone conversation on Tuesday with CNN.

Asked if he was worried, Cohen said; “I would be lying to you if I told that I am not. Do I need this in my life? No. Do I want to be involved in this? No.”

The raid was “upsetting to say the least,” he added.

He wants the investigation to be over and continues to say everything he did in regards to paying Stormy Daniels for the non-disclosure agreement was perfectly legal.

He said that he is very loyal to Trump but after what happened on Monday, he’d rethink how he handled the payments to Daniels because of the impact on his family.

Podcast: YouTube Star Davey Wavey “Porn Doesn’t Teach You How To Have Good Sex”

YouTube superstar Davey Wavey launches new website to help gay men learn better sex
Davey Wavey

It’s no surprise that the most obvious trait that sets gay men apart from the rest of the world is the fact that we have sex with men.

But in truth, few of us ever had someone explain or teach us about gay sexuality.

In today’s Randy Report podcast, I chat with popular sex-positive YouTube vlogger and gay sexuality authority Davey Wavey.

With over a million subscribers to his YouTube channel and over 400 million views of his videos, Davey Wavey has spent years covering LGBT topics relating to sex, relationships, coming out, dating, boys, and just about anything having to do with homosexuality.

Davey chats about his latest endeavor – new website HimEros.tv – which he describes as “an erotic playground for men who have sex with men to enhance their experience of sex and sexuality.”

“Porn is designed to get you off,” Wavey says. “It’s not designed to teach you about pleasure or connection or intimacy. Porn doesn’t teach you how to have good sex. What we do in the bedroom is often a reflection of what we watch on the computer screen. It’s my hope that by serving a different flavor of gay erotica, we can encourage gay men to shift their approach.”
