Nikki Haley’s Bad Night In Nevada

It was not a great primary night for Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley here in my home state of Nevada. In the ‘First in the West’ contest – where she basically had no competition – Haley came in second with just 30% of GOP voters 33 points behind “None of these candidates.” Former Vice President Mike Pence (who’s dropped out of the race) garnered a whopping 2.96% of the vote. https://twitter.com/NBCNews/status/1755095158373192148 Even though the state of Nevada requires the Democrats and Republicans to hold primaries, the Republican party decided to hold caucuses anyway (this coming Thursday) as its preferred manner in choosing how to assign delegates as the powers that be felt that aligned better with Trump supporters. The state Republicans had declared that candidates had to choose between the caucuses or the primary. Trump, of course, is predicted to coast to victory on caucus night. Trump supporters in the Silver State, including Gov. Joe Lombardo (R), had advocated selecting “None of These Candidates” on the primary ballot as a protest vote against Haley. So last night left Haley with zero delegates earned and not even a symbolic “victory” of winning the GOP primary. It’s worth noting that Haley, who claims the contest was “rigged,” didn’t bother to campaign https://twitter.com/Elex_Michaelson/status/1755329924066611608 On the other side of the political spectrum, President Joe Biden coasted to an easy, overwhelming victory with nearly 90% of the Democrats vote. Author Marianne Williamson garnered 2.8% of the vote. https://twitter.com/NBCNews/status/1755089705668935794
