Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor and Republican presidential hopeful, had a truly cringe-worthy moment Wednesday night at a New Hampshire town-hall event where she was asked what caused the Civil War. After she rambled on about “the freedoms of what people could or couldn’t do” and government overreach, the questioner noted that she never once mentioned the word “slavery.” “What do you want me to say about slavery?” Ms. Haley replied. “Next question.” Here’s the video clip. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1740215084109234422 Haley was in clean-up mode this morning appearing on the radio show The Pulse of New Hampshire. Addressing the kerfuffle, she told listeners:
“Of course the Civil War was about slavery. We know that. That’s the easy part of it. What I was saying was what does it mean to us today? What it means to us today is about freedom. That’s what that was all about.”
She also suggested that the question at the town-hall came from a “plant” sent by Democrats and President Biden, not a Republican voter. https://twitter.com/chrisgeidner/status/1740217202085863561 https://twitter.com/DeanObeidallah/status/1740356473509888165
When the people you want to vote for you are so racist you can’t even allow yourself to condemn slavery.

Those meddling democrats. What fiendish question will they ask Nikki next—“Who bombed Pearl Harbor?”

Democrats are citizens, too, Nikki–you have to be able to answer their questions.

Is “What was the cause of the Civil War?” considered a “gotcha question” these days?

So she’s saying that she is unable to think when a Democrat is in the room or asks her questions? What’s the point of the “Democrat” part? The answer should be the same no matter WHO asks her. It’s not difficult.
