Some news items you might have missed:

• SAG Awards: Out actress Ariana DeBose was honored tonight with the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her acclaimed turn as “Anita” in the Steven Spielberg reboot of West Side Story.

• Deadline: Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone tested positive for COVID-19 before Saturday’s matinee of Company on Broadway, triggering increased testing protocols for the rest of the performers and staff. LuPone is expected to be out until March 8.

• The Advocate: President Biden’s nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court – D.C Court of Appeals Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson – has a nearly flawless record on LGBTQ issues.

• Back2Stonewall: Will Kohler remembers the 1977 NBC made-for-TV movie Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn which included Eve Plumb (of Brady Bunch fame) as a hooker, male hustlers and closeted gay football players . It was scandalous for its time.

• U.S. Embassy- Russia: With an increasing number of airlines cancelling flights into and out of Russia, the U.S. State Department is urging Americans to consider departing Russia immediately via commercial options still available.

• AP News: The European Union’s chief executive says the 27-nation bloc will close its airspace to Russian airlines, fund supplies of weapons to Ukraine and ban some pro-Kremlin media outlets in response to Russia’s invasion.
