New Music: The Irrepressibles ‘Destination’

Jamie Irrepressible drops his latest video – “Destination” – a joyous and stylish indie-pop song about the longing for love in this era of hook-up culture and fast-paced intimacy. The song tells the story of a man living in isolation, going from one one-night stand to another, but longing for more connection. Set in a 60’s soundscape with modern sensibilities, “Destination” begins subtle and unassuming, then building into a euphoric, orchestral cacophony. While the track leans into a sexy groove, the visual is its own chill, unhurried ride. I previously covered Jamie’s atmospheric and moody “Be Wild” here. I love his videos. “Romance seems to happen in the most unlikely of places,” says music video director Jack Willoughby. “So when a melancholic muscle man heads to a tropical aquarium to find his precious pet fish, he ends up impressing his own crush with an optimistic mating dance.” The new single is from The Irrepressibles upcoming album, Yo Homo! — a punk-rock, indie-rock, and often symphonic new sound world. Known for his highly emotionally charged works Yo Homo! is no exception – yet the emotion here is sexy, dance-y, witty, and occasionally queer-political. Yo Homo! is scheduled for release on September27 and can be pre-saved here.
