My Adventure At The American Music Awards

On Monday, I had a most exhilarating time covering the American Music Awards red carpet for Parade Magazine. While I’ve reported from red carpet events in the past, nothing compares to the size and scope of the AMAs. So many big names, so many nominees in so many categories, and it all whizzes by in a fast-paced two hour window. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKItysth0b7/?hl=en Representing Parade Magazine, I was well-positioned on the carpet, but you still have to jockey for interviews with the attendees. And you have to be ready with questions more interesting than “Are you excited to be at the AMAs?” I spent weeks researching as many nominees as I could in order to be ready. But it’s all a big 3-D chess game moving at 100 mph trying to catch a publicist’s eye hoping they’ll bring their clients to you. I have to say a hilarious personal highlight happened when one publicist approached me about her clients and as she looked down at my credential, she saw my name, paused, and said, “Oh my god, you’re The Randy Report!” Looking at her credential, I realized I’ve communicated with her several times over the years reporting on her many clients’ music projects. It was great fun to meet face-to-face after collaborating together for so long. Fortunately, I was able to chat with some pretty terrific people. And, so far, two (!) of my interviews have been posted as articles on the Parade Magazine website. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKK4TqJK7It/?hl=en For the first piece, I chatted with Scott Hoying of the Grammy Award-winning group Pentatonix about his first experience attending the AMAs. And the second article features Dancing With The Stars pros Ezra Sosa and Jenna Johnson as Ezra considers whether he would be down for a stint as guest host for the iconic Chippendales in Las Vegas. I encourage you to click the links above to see how they turned out. And a fun time was had by all… https://www.instagram.com/p/DKLEmfeJ7gC/?hl=en
