The perpetrator slammed the victim to the ground after asking the student’s friends, “Do you know he’s gay?” The police investigated the incident as a hate crime and have since apprehended a suspect. • NBC News: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has selected Nov. 4 as the date for the special election to fill the House seat that had been occupied by the late Rep. Sylvester Turner, D-Texas, who died unexpectedly in March.
