It was a lively day on CNN’s State of the Union this morning as far-right Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) announced he will try and oust Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy from his position after McCarthy worked with Democrats to keep the federal government open on Saturday.
“I do intend to file a motion to vacate against Speaker McCarthy this week. I think we need to rip off the band-aid. I think we need to move on with new leadership that can be trustworthy.
“Look, the one thing everybody has in common is that nobody trusts Kevin McCarthy. He lied to Biden, he lied to House conservatives.”
https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1708470779644383360 Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was on the show next, and I loved her remarks. First, she refers to Donald Trump as “what’s-his-name.” And then, she tells Jake Tapper that Gaetz “has no sway in the House of Representatives.”
“It’s such a fraud when they say the basis of this is about spending. These are people who gave a tax cut to the richest people in America to the cost of $2 trillion to our national debt when what’s his name was president of the United States.
“It’s about a values debate, and you’re wasting your time on that guy because he has no sway in the House of Representatives except to get on TV and to raise money on the internet.”
