Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz owned himself during an appearance on Monday night’s Hannity where he blamed President Biden for the cost of his Thanksgiving turkey. During a chat with guest host Kayleigh McEnany, Chaffetz went off on a rant complaining that “Bidenomics” is responsible for the high cost of his Thanksgiving bird. “I mean, we went to go buy a turkey today. It was $90 for a turkey!” Chaffetz squealed. “It’s all a choice by Joe Biden. That is what Bidenomics is.” https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1726796948097687850 He then tweeted out a pic of the bird where the label explains, “Thoughtfully raised on sustainable family farms.” The label also mentions the turkey was “100% vegetarian fed, raised without antibiotics, no preservatives, minimally processed.” If you zoom in you can see Chaffetz paid $4.99 a pound for the 22.85 pound turkey.
Now, I have no problem with raising animals in healthy, humane environments. But as LOTS of folks pointed out on X (formerly Twitter), that the vast majority of Americans are not paying $4.99 a pound for their Thanksgiving turkey. And aside from the faux outrage, it’s worth noting that Fortune Magazine found that “Turkey prices will be lower for Thanksgiving 2023.” Folks from the Twitterverse chimed in with their thoughts AND supermarket ads showing the prices in their areas:
So he bought a turkey raised in a day spa, was given daily massages, and was hand-fed the finest corn kernels by people with MBA’s, and that’s Joe Biden’s fault?
Normal people buy regular turkeys. pic.twitter.com/fu5CWHUHF7 — Alex Cole (@acnewsitics) November 21, 2023

So you basically bought a super expensive organic turkey knowing the average family buys what’s on sale for $1 something a pound. Then lie about the cost of Thanksgiving being “unaffordable” for the average family.

The highest priced Turkey at my store was 1.49/lb But if you spent $35 you get it for .37/lb. Clearly these out of touch people have not actually been in a grocery store. pic.twitter.com/3SUiMP03pj
