Eventually, they all say the quiet part out loud. Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account today to boast that his administration had struck down the new tolls for midtown Manhattan drivers to raise funds for the city’s aging mass transit system. “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD,” he wrote. “Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!” Shortly thereafter, the official White House X account shared his statement, with a mock cover of Time Magazine featuring a portrait of the president wearing a crown with the caption “long live the king.”
Additionally, White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich posted an AI-generated image of Trump donned in cape and crown.

Your high school social studies teachers failed you. America refused a king. Told him what he could do with his crown.
