In an interview with TIME Magazine’s Molly Ball, virulently anti-LGBTQ Gov. Ron DeSantis dodges questions about how he would handle one of his children coming out as queer or transgender.
DeSantis keeps much of the focus on parental rights issues, which have been central to his agenda.
"When I ask how he’ll respond if one of his children turns out to be gay or trans, his eyes flash momentarily, and he swiftly shuts down the question. “Well, my children are my children… We'll leave that—we’ll leave that between my wife and I.”https://t.co/8UlGaTSatv

From TIME:
I ask DeSantis about the rights of parents of trans children, who are being prevented by the state from accessing the medical care they may believe is in their kids’ best interest.
“As a parent right now, I can’t take my six-year-old daughter and get her a tattoo, even if I want to do that,” he says.
And when I ask how he’ll respond if one of his children turns out to be gay or trans, his eyes flash momentarily, and he swiftly shuts down the question. “Well, my children are my children,” DeSantis says. “We’ll leave that—we’ll leave that between my wife and I.”
DeSantis also tried to deflect questions about gender-affirming care for trans kids by arguing that the state has an interest in preventing “sterilizing children at age 13 or 14” or performing sex-change surgery on minors.
As I’ve reported on The Randy Report many times, while gender-affirming care is supported by practically every major medical organization, including the American Medical Association, “sex-change surgeries” for minors are not.
