DeSantis Claims Credit For Federal Funds In Florida

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced he “awarded” more than $28 million earlier this week to “expand semiconductor manufacturing” in the Sunshine State. What he failed to mention is the funds he “awarded” came from the federal CHIPS and Science Act passed by a Democratic controlled Congress and signed into law by President Biden. https://twitter.com/GovRonDeSantis/status/1727114696761954588 From DeSantis official website:

Today, Governor Ron DeSantis awarded more than $28 million through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund to expand semiconductor manufacturing and chip manufacturing through five workforce development projects.

These awards are part of a cutting-edge workforce development initiative announced by Governor DeSantis to dedicate at least $25 million to support the semiconductor industry through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund.

Across the state, these funds will create high-demand, high-wage jobs for Floridians and strengthen local talent pipelines for businesses.

In addition to this shady business from DeSantis, we’ve also seen congressional Republicans who voted against legislation championed by Biden, like the Infrastructure Act, pretend to their constituents the funds that landed in their districts were due to their efforts.
