NYC: Transgender Woman Says Hate Crime Killer Is Not A Bigot

Elliot Morales

A man who shot and killed a gay man in Greenwich Village in 2013 while yelling anti-gay slurs, presented to the court deciding his fate a character witness who claims the two were lovers for ten years proving Morales is no bigot.

Elliot Morales, acting as his own lawyer for the hate-crime slaying of gay stranger Mark Carson, called as his first witness a former flame whom he’d met online.

The 38-year-old transsexual woman, using the pseudonym Jane Smith, testified from behind a curtain in Manhattan Supreme Court that she and Morales, 36, had a physical relationship on and off for 10 years.

“In your experience and personal knowledge, do you believe Elliot Morales is a person who hates gays?” Morales asked the pre-op transsexual, who does HIV testing in a clinic that caters to the LGBT community.

“Absolutely not,” she answered.

The woman said she met Morales after he responded to her dating profile that stated, “Transsexual woman looking for a man.”

Charged with second-degree murder as a hate crime, Morales faces 30 years to life in prison.

Lindsey Graham: We May Have To Rally Around Ted Cruz

Much to his own dismay, Sen. Lindsey Graham told Charlie Rose of CBS News that Republicans may have to throw their full support to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz if they were to have any chance of denying Donald Trump the Republican nomination for president.

This is especially notable due to Graham’s well-known disdain for Cruz.

“Ted Cruz is not my favorite by any means,” Graham said in a CBS interview. “But we may be in a position where we have to rally around Ted Cruz as the only way to stop Donald Trump.”

Graham, who not too long ago was running against Cruz and Trump for the GOP presidential nomination, said it’s still a long shot that Cruz could beat Trump. And the Texas senator isn’t exactly the most likable Republican in town.

Whether Cruz or Rubio is able to pick up fresh momentum, Graham said he’s preparing for the worst: for Trump to win the GOP presidential nomination, and then to face off with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“Senator, you seem to be saying that Hillary Clinton will beat Donald Trump,” said CBS host Charlie Rose.

“No, I’m not [seeming] to say that. I am saying that,” Graham said with a weak laugh. “Like a drum.”

Dr. Ben Carson Drops Out Of Republican Race For President

After landing in 4th place at the Iowa Caucuses, followed by last place showings in New Hampshire and South Carolina, and pretty much coming in 4th in contests across the country on Super Tuesday, Dr. Ben Carson has told his supporters he’s pretty much reached the end of his presidential run.

From the Washington Post:

Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who briefly led the Republican presidential race before his campaign began an extended public implosion, told his supporters in a statement Wednesday afternoon that he does not see a “path forward” and will not attend Thursday’s debate in Detroit.

Carson, however, did not formally suspend his campaign. Instead, he said in the statement that has decided to make a speech about his political future on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, just outside of Washington.

“I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results,” the statement said. “However, this grassroots movement on behalf of ‘We the People’ will continue. Along with millions of patriots who have supported my campaign for President, I remain committed to Saving America for Future Generations.”

Rumors have been swirling that Republican leaders have been asking Carson to drop out of the presidential race and, instead, run for Marco Rubio’s senate seat in Florida where he lives.

I wonder if that will be part of his speech on Friday?

Donald Trump Campaign Gave Press Credentials To White Supremacist Radio Show

This does nothing to stem the accusations of “racist” directed at Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

From Media Matters:

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign gave press credentials to the white nationalist radio program The Political Cesspool, which says it will soon air an interview with Donald Trump Jr.

National civil rights groups have criticized the program for supporting anti-Semites, Holocaust deniers, and white supremacists like David Duke.

The show openly states on its website that it’s a “pro-White” program that wishes “to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility.”

It is hosted by white nationalist James Edwards, who has claimed that Martin Luther King Jr.’s “dream is our nightmare,” “interracial sex is white genocide,” and “slavery is the greatest thing that ever happened to” African-Americans.

Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke is a frequent guest on the radio show.

Super Tuesday Was ‘Super’ For Some, Not So Much For Others

It was an interesting Super Tuesday for the current crop of presidential contenders.

Hillary Clinton won 7 of the 11 Democratic contests (AL, AR, GA, MA, TN, TX, VA) as Sen. Bernie Sanders clinched the remaining four (CO, MN, OK, VT).

Sanders put lots of energy and resources into Oklahoma and Massachusetts but only won one of those. Some Bernie fans have blamed Sen. Elizabeth Warren for the loss in Massachusetts due to her lack of endorsement for her fellow progressive.

Part of Clinton’s dominance was rooted in her massive support from African-Americans and Latinos:

• Alabama: Clinton 93%, Sanders 5%
• Arkansas: Clinton 90%, Sanders 10%
• Georgia: Clinton 83%, Sanders 16%
• Oklahoma: Clinton 71%, Sanders 27%
• Tennessee: Clinton 85%, Sanders 12%
• Texas: Clinton 83%, Sanders 15%
• Virginia: Clinton 84%, Sanders 16%

At this point, Clinton has won 461 delegates to Sanders’ 295, and that doesn’t include super-delegates. NBC News’ First Read says the math makes it difficult for Sanders to clinch the nomination unless he wins 59% of the remaining delegates.

On the Republican side, Donald Trump had a good night winning 7 states (AL, AR, GA, MN, TN, VT, VA), while Sen. Ted Cruz snagged wins in 3 states (AK, OK, TX), and Sen. Marco Rubio finally won 1 state with Minnesota.

Many pundits now give Cruz, Rubio and company only two weeks to effectively find a way to stop Trump or that’s all she wrote. On March 15th all primaries on the GOP side become “winner take all,” which means if Trump continues as he is now he will start pulling away from the rest of the pack FAST.

Judge Agrees To Hear Resentencing Motion For Convicted Gay-Basher Kathryn Knott

Convicted gay-basher Kathryn Knott

Convicted gay-basher Kathryn Knott will see her attorney’s motion for resentencing considered by Judge Roxanne Covington in court on March 8th.

Knott’s current incarceration is related to the vicious 2014 beating of a gay couple in Center City which left one man with a shattered jaw.

Last month, Covington sentenced Knott last month to 5-to-10 months in prison and two years of probation for her role in the beating, which left Andrew Haught unconscious and with a broken jaw that needed to be wired shut. Knott also received a $2,000 fine and was ordered to attend anger management classes, keep out of Philadelphia County during her probation and stay away from Haught and his partner, Zachary Hesse, who sustained minor facial bruises.

The motion was filed last month in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas by attorney Bill Brennan, who replaced Louis Busico as Knott’s defense lawyer.

Knott, 25, of Upper Southampton, was one of three defendants charged in the beating. Her co-defendants, Kevin Harrigan and Philip Williams, received lighter penalties when they accepted plea agreements in October.

Knott opted to take her chances in court and ended up as the only member of the trio to receive any jail time. She was exonerated of aggravated assault charges against both victims, but found guilty of simple assault against Hesse, conspiracy and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Donald Trump Stares Down Protester Wearing “KKK Endorses Trump” T-Shirt

Donald Trump’s failure to respond to questions about his support coming from David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan landed front and center again today as the Trumpster had a tense face to face moment with a protester wearing a t-shirt saying “KKK endorses Trump.”

From CNN:

A protester in the seats behind Trump on Friday lifted a sign that read “Islamophobia is not the answer.”

But even after a Trump supporter ripped the sign away, the man lingered not far from Trump’s stage.

Waiting for security, police or staff to spring into action, Trump paced the stage and came close to the man, who had removed a jacket to reveal a shirt with the words “KKK endorses Trump” and a yellow star reminiscent of those worn by Jews during the Holocaust on his chest.

The two appeared to exchange words as Trump walked closer to the man, but Trump quickly walked back toward his podium and continued pacing the stage.

The man was eventually escorted out of the room, blowing kisses along the way in Trump’s direction and toward supporters in the audience who loudly booed the man.

“In the good old days, they’d rip him out of that seat so fast, but today everybody is politically correct — our country’s going to hell for being politically correct,” Trump said, as the man was whisked away after a few minutes.

“The police: they’re afraid to move. They’re afraid to move,” Trump added. “We are really becoming a frightened country.”

The Donald has given conflicting answers in regards to disavowing David Duke and white supremacy groups.

Trump continues to decry the First Amendment which gives Americans freedom of expression. Trump likes “free speech” as long as it applies to him.

How do you become the president when you openly talk about squelching free speech?
