Documentary: “Last Men Standing”

A new documentary produced by the San Francisco Chronicle – Last Men Standing – examines the lives of men diagnosed in the early years of the AIDS epidemic who have survived to tell their stories.

These are stories of survival and loss; courage and fear; histories and horizons. Through the course of the film, eight men explore and explain the lives they’ve lived that they never expected to have.

One of the men featured in the film, Peter Greene, says “I’m the luckiest unlucky person in the world. No one wants to be the last man standing.”

The documentary will be screened at the Castro Theater in San Francisco on April 8. Click here for ticket info.

Who Wins In Donald Trump/Hillary Clinton Matchup?

The above image was shared via Instagram by hip-hop business magnate Russell Simmons.

And he’s right – even though Trump repeats that the polls show he would beat Hillary Clinton, he’s not being truthful.

Here’s a link to the Real Clear Politics page tracking polls that ask the question: “Who would you vote for in a head-to-head matchup of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump?”

Here’s the latest list of polls and average:

Donald Trump Explains “What Is 2+2?”

This started making the rounds on Facebook and I think it absolutely captures The Trumpster.

This is basically every speech he gives.

Via Facebook:

Donald Trump answers the question; What is 2+2?

“I have to say a lot of people have been asking this question. No, really. A lot of people come up to me and they ask me. They say, “What’s 2+2”? And I tell them look, we know what 2+2 is. We’ve had almost eight years of the worst kind of math you can imagine. Oh my god, I can’t believe it. Addition and subtraction of the 1s the 2s and the 3s. Its terrible. Its just terrible. Look, if you want to know what 2+2 is, do you want to know what 2+2 is? I’ll tell you. First of all the number 2, by the way I love the number 2. It’s probably my favorite number, no it is my favorite number. You know what, it’s probably more like the number two but with a lot of zeros behind it. A lot. If I’m being honest, I mean, if I’m being honest. I like a lot of zeros. Except for Marco Rubio, now he’s a zero that I don’t like. Though, I probably shouldn’t say that. He’s a nice guy but he’s like, “10101000101”, on and on, like that. He’s like a computer! You know what I mean? He’s like a computer. I don’t know. I mean, you know. So, we have all these numbers and we can add them and subtract them and add them. TIMES them even. Did you know that? We can times them OR divide them, they don’t tell you that, and I’ll tell you, no one is better at the order of operations than me. You wouldn’t believe it. That I can tell you. So, we’re gonna be the best on 2+2, believe me. Ok? Alright. Thank you.”

Video: 38th Annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras In Sydney, Australia

With 178 floats, over 12,500 participants and a massive party that stretched through the entire night, the 38th Annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras was the biggest and gayest party in the world yesterday.

Notable attendees included Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. While Mr. Turnbull has attended the event before, this year he becomes the first sitting Australian Prime Minister to attend the event. Also of note – Mr. Turnbull continues to block a vote on marriage equality.

The video below is covers almost four hours of gay Australia’s “night of nights.”

NFL: Atlanta Falcons Coach Asks Prospective Player If He’s Gay

Homophobia rears it’s ugly head again as the NFL draft approaches.

According to former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple, an Atlanta Falcons coach asked if the player was gay during last week’s NFL combine.

From ABC News:

An Atlanta Falcons coach asked former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple whether he is gay during a meeting last week at the NFL combine. Apple described the meeting Friday during an interview with Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, although he did not identify the coach.

“The Falcons coach, one of the coaches, was like, ‘So do you like men?’” Apple told Comcast SportsNet. “It was like the first thing he asked me. It was weird. I was just like, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘If you’re going to come to Atlanta, sometimes that’s how it is around here. You’re going to have to get used to it.’

“I guess he was joking, but they just ask most of these questions to see how you’re going to react.” Falcons coach Dan Quinn released a statement Friday, acknowledging the incident.

“I am really disappointed in the question that was asked by one of our coaches,” Quinn said. “I have spoken to the coach that interviewed Eli Apple and explained to him how inappropriate and unprofessional this was. I have reiterated this to the entire coaching staff and I want to apologize to Eli for this even coming up. This is not what the Atlanta Falcons are about and it is not how we are going to conduct ourselves.”

The NFL has previously stated that asking about sexual orientation in the hiring process is against league policy.

The NFL’s collective bargaining agreement includes protections that prohibit discrimination against any player based on sexual orientation. Violation of those protections is subject to league discipline.

Donald Trump Flip-Flops On Torture/Killing Terrorists’ Families

At last night’s Republican debate Donald Trump was asked about his recent statements regarding torture, specifically saying he would do “worse” than torture and would want soldiers to kill terrorists’ families.

When Trump was informed by the moderator that that was straight up illegal according to international law and soldiers wouldn’t be able to follow such orders, Trump replied, “They won’t refuse. They’re not gonna refuse me. Believe me. I’m a leader, I’ve always been a leader. I’ve never had any problem leading people. If I say do it, they’re going to do it.”

Apparently that did not sit well at the Pentagon this morning. Military leaders get nervous about being ordered to break international laws.

So, this afternoon The Donald flip-flopped issued a statement clarifying that he would not order the U.S. military to violate international laws to fight terrorism.

From CNN:

Trump said in a statement that he understands “that the United States is bound by laws and treaties” and said he would “not order our military or other officials to violate those laws and will seek their advice on such matters.”

He added, “I will not order a military officer to disobey the law. It is clear that as president I will be bound by laws just like all Americans and I will meet those responsibilities.”

Fox News Focus Group “Disgusted” After #GOPdebate

A focus group of Republican voters watching last night’s GOP debate were not thrilled with what they saw.

Asked for one-word answers to describe their take after the two hour slug fest, moderator Frank Luntz got responses like:

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: Sophomoric.

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: Embarrassment.

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: Disappointing.

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: Shameful.

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: Despicable.

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: Angering.

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: Disgusting.

FOCUS GROUP MEMBER: School yard brawl.

From all accounts it looks like the favorite of the group was Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who came across as “the adult in the room.”

Donald Trump Defends The Size Of His Penis During #GOPdebate

I honestly can’t believe it’s devolved to this.

Last Sunday, Sen. Marco Rubio’s attacks on Donald Trump took a step on the wild side when during a campaign stop he addressed the size of Donald Trump’s hands.

“He’s always calling me Little Marco,” said Rubio last Sunday in Virginia. “And I’ll admit he’s taller than me. He’s like 6’2, which is why I don’t understand why his hands are the size of someone who is 5’2. And you know what they say about men with small hands? You can’t trust them.”

Last night, GOP front runner Trump took the time to assure the American public that there was was absolutely “no problem” with the size of his hands, or any other part of his anatomy.

“Look at those hands,” he said, raising them. “Are they small hands?”

“And, he referred to my hands — ‘if they’re small, something else must be small.’ I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee.”
