The Flash Reveals “Kid Flash”

Pardon me as I geek out a bit 🙂

The CW’s The Flash has shared a sneak peek at Keiynan Lonsdale, the show’s upcoming new hero, “Kid Flash.” Lonsdale makes his first appearance in costume during tonight’s Season 3 premiere.

From EW:

The sneak peek comes on the heels of Grant Gustin revealing that The Flash will be adapting the famed Flashpoint comic book storyline, in which Barry Allen finds himself in an alternate timeline where his mother is no longer dead, and most of the world’s heroes are more like villains these days: Aquaman is at war with Wonder Woman; Batman is Thomas Wayne, not Bruce Wayne; and Captain Cold is actually a Central City hero named Citizen Cold.

It’s unclear if Wally’s new powers come as a result of being affected by the second particle accelerator explosion — in which Barry tried to get his powers back — or if this Kid Flash exists purely in the Flashpoint storyline. It’s likely the former since the show has invested in creating this costume, so Wally should be going full Kid Flash this season — maybe even as a result of Barry’s absence. Now the question remains whether Jesse Quick was also affected and obtained powers.

The Flash returns Tuesday, July 12 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.

Convicted Gay-Basher Kathryn Knott To Be Released From Jail

Convicted gay-basher Kathryn Knott

Philadelphia Magazine reports that convicted gay-basher Kathryn Knott will be released from jail this afternoon after her lawyer successfully petitioned for parole.

Calling Knott “an exemplary inmate,” Center City attorney William Brennan told Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Roxanne Covington, “She completed anger management in a timely, quick fashion. And she elected not to appeal. That speaks volumes to her sincerity.”

But Knott’s legal woes will continue even after her release as she faces a civil lawsuit by her victims of the violent gay-bashing, plus a $5 million lawsuit by a Montgomery County woman who is suing Knott over what she claims was a conspiracy against her.

Trailer: “Tallulah”

From Vulture:

Good news, Juno fans: Ellen Page has a baby again. Bad news: She seems to have lost track of her hamburger phone, also the baby belongs to Tammy Blanchard, not Page.

In Tallulah, Page absconds with Blanchard’s baby, realizes that was a terrible idea, and looks for maternal advice from Allison Janney, who’s playing the mother of Page’s missing boyfriend.

Also, Uzo Aduba is the child-services officer on the case — boy, Sundance movies do get complicated.

Tallulah premieres July 29 on Netflix.

Sen. Bernie Sanders Endorses Hillary Clinton For President

Speaking at a rally in New Hampshire today, Sen. Bernie Sanders endorsed presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for president.

“Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nominating process, and I congratulate her for that.

“She will be the Democratic nominee for president and I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next president of the United States.

“In these stressful times for our country, this election must be about bringing our people together, not dividing us up.

“While Donald Trump is busy insulting Mexicans, Muslims, women, African Americans and veterans, Hillary Clinton understands that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Yes. We become stronger when black and white, Latino, Asian American, Native American – all of us – stand together. Yes. We become stronger when men and women, young and old, gay and straight, native born and immigrant fight to rid this country of all forms of bigotry.”

Austrailia HIV/AIDS Experts Say AIDS Epidemic Is ‘Over’

Australia’s top HIV/AIDS researchers and organizations have declared the AIDS epidemic (not the disease itself) is ‘over.’

As the number of actual AIDS diagnoses have continued to drop to very low numbers, the Australian Federation of AIDS Organizations has pronounced the disease is now seen as beaten in terms of being manageable.

From the Sydney Morning Herald:

“AIDS is over in the way we knew it,” he said. “We’ve got access to treatment that has had extraordinary effect, and community activism since the very early years of AIDS in the ’80s and ’90s has helped the efforts to fight it.”

Professor Sharon Lewin, director of the Peter Doherty Institute, told the ABC that anti-retroviral medications had been crucial to the epidemic’s decline, allowing people diagnosed with HIV to live healthy, long lives.

“I’ve actually seen a dramatic transformation of HIV from a universal death sentence to now a chronic, manageable disease,” Professor Lewin said.

However, Mr O’Donnell said Australia still has a major challenge in addressing HIV. “We still have a huge task in dealing with the 1100 to 1200 cases of HIV per year,” he said. “These are avoidable infections.”

He said he expected the pre-exposure prophylaxis Truvada, a once-a-day pill taken to prevent HIV, to be a game-changer comparable to the impact of the contraceptive pill.

“We need urgent action from the Australian government to subsidise this pill,” he said, adding that Truvada would see HIV cases halved in a year.

Bernie Sanders To Campaign With Hillary Clinton In Hew Hampshire Tomorrow

It looks like Sen. Bernie Sanders will finally join presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail at a rally in New Hampshire, according to Politico.

Sanders will campaign with Clinton at a high school in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, less than two weeks before the party’s convention begins in Philadelphia.

The Vermont senator’s campaign announced his participation minutes after the Clinton team’s email hit inboxes, with both announcements sharing the same language that the two former primary rivals will “discuss their commitment to building an America that is stronger together and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.”

The joint appearance comes after the Vermont senator scored several victories on the Democratic platform over the weekend in Orlando, Florida, including on climate change, health care and a minimum wage increase to $15. Sanders and his allies, however, lost out on language related to the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Washington Times: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence 95% Chance Of Being Donald Trump’s VP Pick

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence

The right-leaning Washington Times is reporting today that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has a “95 percent” chance of being tapped to run as Donald Trump’s running mate for the White House.

A campaign rally in Indianapolis has been hastily added to the Trumpster’s schedule, and several sources close to the Trump campaign are telling the Times they believe Pence is the pick.

You’ll recall the backlash Pence suffered when he tried to legalize anti-LGBT discrimination in his state. It was a withering defeat that left Pence embarrassed. And his retreat on the issue bruised his reputation with anti-gay conservatives.
