Rio Olympics: Ryan Lochte “Robbery” Story Is Falling Apart

U.S. Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte

The story of Ryan Lochte and three other U.S. swimmers being robbed on Sunday appears to be unraveling as surveillance videos now contradict the original reports by the Olympic athletes.

The story seems to be getting bigger and bigger in part due to the egos of police officials who are upset over their city appearing to be dangerous and crime-ridden.

From the Daily Mail:

“They stopped at a gas station and they were all really drunk. They went to the toilet and damaged it pretty badly,” a source tells the paper. “The security guy saw them and started arguing with them – telling them they had to pay. They refused and argued back. He pointed his gun at them and insisted they pay for the damage – they gave him some money and left.”

Security footage showing the athletes demolishing the bathroom and being stopped by the guard has surfaced.

U.S. Olympic swimmers Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz

Swimmers Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz were taken off a flight and detained by Brazilian police. A judge also ordered Lochte’s passport be seized, but he had already boarded a flight to Charlotte, North Carolina.

He even posed for a photo on his flight home with American Airlines flight attendant David Anthony, who posted the picture online with the caption, ’I couldn’t make it to #Rio for the Olympics this year, so the Olympics came to me. Now if only Ryan Lochte would go on a date with me!”

Lochte maintains he and his fellow swimmers were really robbed. He told Matt Lauer footage of him laughing and smiling after the incident were a result of his being “in shock.”

“I wouldn’t make up a story like this nor would the others — as a matter of fact we all feel it makes us look bad,’ Lochte told Lauer. “We’re victims in this and we’re happy that we’re safe.”

His attorney, Jeff Ostrow says the athletes are being unfairly targeted for shining a light on Rio’s crime problem.

[snip]

Ryan Lochte will likely not be extradited back to Brazil despite a judge’s order demanding he remain in the country and is probably in the clear so long as official charges are not filed against him in the case explained Ari Melber of MSNBC on Thursday morning.

Should it be determined that the entire story was made up, Lochte and the other men could be charged with false communication of a crime, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in jail in Brazil.

Some legal experts on CNN have countered that, bad behavior aside, if you imagine yourself at 6AM at a gas station with a person coming up to you with a gun demanding money, one might describe that situation as a “robbery” keeping in mind that the men were very possibly intoxicated.

What does seem clear is Lochte could be losing tons of endorsement cash in the aftermath of this debacle.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Donald Trump Will “Absolutely” Release His Tax Returns

What is Donald Trump hiding in his tax returns?

The Hillary Clinton campaign is not letting up on Donald Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns even though every presidential candidate for the past four decades has.

The Trumpster says he can’t because he’s currently being audited. But the IRS says there’s no reason he can’t release those returns.

Reporters have asked him to release even his 2008 returns – which are not being audited – but the Trump campaign still dodges.

You have to wonder what it is that he’s hiding. The Clinton campaign’s newest ad asks that question and more.

“If I decide to run for office I’ll produce my tax returns — absolutely,” Trump says at the beginning of the ad, highlighting yet another of his now infamous flip-flops.

When ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked, “What is your tax rate?” Trump responded, “It’s none of your business.”

Out Olympian Amini Fonua Talks LGBT Culture At The Olympic Games

Tongan Olympic swimmer Amini Fonua talks with Charley Walters on the beach in Rio about LGBT culture, Grindr and who his role models are at the Olympic games.

Update: I couldn’t get the video to work without it autoplaying – which I know my readers hate.

Head over to Advocate to watch the interview.

U.S. Gymnast Danell Leyva Puts On A Show At Rio Gala Gymnastics

Shirtless Danell Leyva performs at Rio Olympics Gymnastic Gala - woof!

U.S. gymnast Danell Leyva, who won two silver medals at the Rio Olympics, returned to the floor one last time for the Gala Gymnastics.

The event is not a competition but an entertainment, and it’s clear the hunky Leyva, who’s also an ardent equal rights activist, knows exactly what an audience wants from him.

Easily a Randy Report favorite from these olympic games.

Word is Danell plans to head to LA where he’d like to become an actor. I think a guest stint at Chippendales is in order.

Lady Grey Jewelers Donate Ivanka Trump Money To Hillary Clinton Campaign

Jewelry designers Sabine Le Guyder and Jill Martinelli’s client list reads as high end as their merchandise with names like Beyoncé and Rihanna among those who appreciate the duo’s work.

But Ivanka Trump’s recent purchase is getting attention after the designers shared their “thank you” to Ivanka with the world on their Instagram:

“Dear Ivanka, Thank you for your web order! We’re happy to let you know that the proceeds of your sale have been generously donated to the American Immigration Council, the Everytown for Gun Safety Organization, and the Hillary Clinton campaign. We hope you enjoy your new Lady Grey #helixcuff. Best, Sabine and Jill.”

Predictably, the missive drew the trolls out from under their bridges for some snarky retorts.

Trump Surrogate Michael Cohen Ridiculed On Twitter #SaysWho?

I was watching CNN this afternoon when this exchange happened. It was beyond cringe worthy.

Few moments encapsulate the Trump campaign like this does.

Besides Michael Cohen’s petulant tone and body language, his total faux-ignorance on the fact that his boy is flailing in the polls is worse than painful.

These 26 seconds are what everyone is talking about today. #sad

Via Politico:

In an interview on Wednesday afternoon, substitute CNN host Brianna Keilar asked Trump Organization Executive Vice President Michael Cohen about the hiring of campaign manager Kellyanne Conway and CEO Stephen Bannon, widely perceived as a shakeup intended to remedy the Republican nominee’s struggling campaign.

Cohen balked at the idea that the hires constituted any kind of shakeup and interrupted Keilar in the middle of a follow-up question when she said, “You say it is not a shakeup but you guys are down.”

“Says who?” said Cohen, whose job description also includes serving as Trump’s special counsel.

“Polls. Most of them. All of them?” an incredulous Keilar responded, sounding surprised that Cohen would refuse to even acknowledge the notion that Trump’s campaign had fallen behind that of Hillary Clinton.

“Says who?” Cohen asked again, to which Keilar replied, “Polls. I just told you. I answered your question.”

Unsatisfied, Cohen followed up: “OK, which polls?”

“All of them,” the CNN host said.

“OK,” Cohen said. “And your question is?”

Bud Light Spot Features Amy Schumer, Seth Rogen & Gender Diversity

Bud Light puts an election year spin on it’s latest ad spot starring Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen while bringing a big dose of gender diversity.

From Rogen, “We are going to bring America together… to party for everyone, men, women, people of all genders!”

Schumer adds, “But, you know, gender identity it’s really a spectrum and we don’t need these labels. Beer should have labels, not people! We don’t care, we will sell you beer. We’ll sell you a beer any day of the week.”

Bud Light VP Alex Lambrecht, whose company is no stranger to LGBT issues, issued this statement:

“From the start of our campaign at the Super Bowl, The Bud Light Party has rallied around bringing people together. In our newest spot, Seth and Amy remind Americans that labels belong on beer, not people—a message Bud Light proudly supports.”
