Dr. Ben Carson Doesn’t Want A Role In Trump Administration

Dr. Ben Carson has announced he will not be a part of the incoming Trump administration.

Carson feels he shouldn’t run a government agency because he has no government experience. He tells ABC News he would prefer a more “advisory” position.

Mind you – he did think he could run the whole country when he was running for president.

Think on that.

More Than Half Of Portland Anti-Trump Protesters Didn’t Vote In Oregon

This is of no help to anyone.

In the wake of the recent anti-Trump protests in Portland, Oregon, the local NBC affiliate dug into voting records and found most of those arrested at the protest had not voted in Oregon in the presidential campaign.

At least sixty-nine demonstrators either didn’t turn in a ballot or weren’t registered to vote in the state.

KGW compiled a list of the 112 people arrested by the Portland Police Bureau during recent protests. Those names and ages, provided by police, were then compared to state voter logs by Multnomah County Elections officials.

Records show 34 of the protesters arrested didn’t return a ballot for the November 8 election. Thirty-five of the demonstrators taken into custody weren’t registered to vote in Oregon.

Twenty-five protesters who were arrested did vote.

I should note the report says 35 protesters weren’t registered to vote in Oregon. That doesn’t mean they didn’t vote in the election. Perhaps they traveled from out of state to join the protest effort.

Sen. Chuck Schumer: I Will Defend The Progress Made On LGBT Rights

Soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer penned an open letter to The Advocates’ readers offering motivation to keep moving forward on LGBT issues even as the community finds itself reeling in the aftermath of the presidential election.

An excerpt:

Keep fighting; keep working; keep pushing for all LGBT Americans, all Muslim Americans, all Americans with disabilities, all Latino Americans, all African-Americans, all white-black-brown working-class Americans struggling to have a fair shot at the American dream. And keep in the back of your head the words preached by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

In the past decade, our country’s progress toward full equality for LGBT citizens leaped forward in ways that many of us never would have predicted just a short time ago. In the last 10 years alone, I went from being one of the first politicians to even walk in the New York City Pride Parade to watching marriage equality become the law of the land. Our country does change for the better, but not on its own. We worked hard for that progress, and we will expend every ounce of our ingenuity and effort to defend it.

Daily Dance: Leon Else “Dance”

British-born musician and trained dancer, Leon Else releases the lively new music video for “Dance.”

Via press release:

Coming from meager backgrounds, Else hustled and saved to put himself through classes at England’s finest dance schools. These courses would propel Else’s skills, eventually landing him in the Daniel Day Lewis’ film NINE.

Refusing to accept a life in the background, Else returned to music, the craft he used as a distraction from his struggles with ADHD and depression.

“The song is about dancing as a way to make depression go away,” says Else of the new track. “It is about how music can be like medicine and finding ways to get through life by yourself. For me, that’s moving and being physical.”

You can find more on Leon at his official website here.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Is This Year’s Sexiest Man Alive!

Via People:

At 6’5″ and 245 lbs., the Herculean star insists that becoming comfortable in his own skin “took a lot of time.”

As a teen growing up in Hawaii, “I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn’t have. I was getting arrested multiple times, but at the same time, always very respectful to my teachers and elders. I was unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be,” he says.

These days, he says it’s his relationships with his longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian, their 11-month old daughter Jasmine and his daughter Simone, 15, (with ex-wife, producer Dany Garcia) that help him stay grounded.

“I’ve made big sweeping changes in my career over the years, which have served me nicely,” he says. “But I feel that the big sweeping changes that happened in my life, in my relationships, of being a dad, of being a partner, and the things that I was and the things that I am, has really lent itself to a confidence.”

“We just have this awesome family that is truly non-traditional but so rooted in love. And that’s such a cool thing,” he says. “I’m very proud of it.”
