Barry Manilow Officially Comes Out

Pop music icon Barry Manilow officially comes out (finally) in an interview with People Magazine.

Manilow says he stayed closeted, in part, because he didn’t want to “disappoint” his fans.

After skyrocketing to fame in 1974 with his pop-rock ballad “Mandy,” the Brooklyn native’s star only got brighter with the release of classics like “Looks Like We Made It,” “Copacabana (At the Copa)” and “Can’t Smile Without You.” Then in 1978, he met Kief — a TV executive and Houston native — and “I knew that this was it,” says Manilow. “I was one of the lucky ones. I was pretty lonely before that.”

Soon after, Kief became Manilow’s manager, a role he still holds today, in addition to being President of Barry Manilow Productions.

“He’s the smartest person I’ve ever met in my life — and a great guy, too,” Manilow says.

And the couple has stayed together for 39 years, all while remaining mum on his sexuality — an open secret to some in his long-devoted, mostly female fan base, a shock to others — and even stepping out and living with once-rumored love interest Linda Allen during his relationship with Kief.

Manilow admits he’s always been hesitant to discuss the relationship — and to come out publicly, even after he finally married Kief in a clandestine ceremony at their 53-acre Palm Springs estate in April 2014.

In 2015, news of their marriage and Manilow’s sexuality made headlines, something the legend calls “a blessing and a curse.”

Considering his fans, “I thought I would be disappointing them if they knew I was gay. So I never did anything,” says Manilow. Turns out, “When they found out that Garry and I were together, they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful — strangers commenting, ‘Great for you!’ I’m just so grateful for it.”

While it’s one of the worst kept “secrets” in Hollywood, you can look back and see a subliminal message in his songs. Was he trying to say something years ago?

Alaska Has It’s First Openly Gay Elected Officials

For the first time, Alaska has elected it’s first openly gay officials.

Yes – officials. Two.

Via Alaska Commons:

Christopher Constant [above], running against a prominent Democrat and three lesser known conservatives for the downtown seat being vacated by Flynn, won Tuesday with 52 percent of the vote. His closest competitor was David Dunsmore, a fellow Democrat, who mustered just 23.35 percent of the vote after the latter pursued a final week of negative campaigning, which evidently backfired.

Felix Rivera, also openly gay, is now too an Assembly member-elect, fending off three challengers while maintaining nearly 47 percent of the vote in midtown Anchorage. Rivera ran for the seat being vacated by Assembly Chair Elvi Gray-Jackson with her full support — as well as the support of current Vice-chair Dick Traini.

In the loser column, you’ll find the conservative gay who was revealed by Dan Savage last week.

The homocon lost to a progressive woman. #FTW!

7th Circuit Court Of Appeals Rules Civil Rights Act Of 1964 Protects LGBTs From Workplace Discrimination

The Associated Press is reporting that the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects LGBTs from workplace discrimination.

Normally, a case would be heard by three judges on the court, but this was heard by the full 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. The judges ruled 8-3 that Title VII protects LGBTs in the workplace.

This is WAY huge.

The decision by the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals comes after it threw out a July finding by three of its own judges that the law doesn’t cover sexual-orientation bias and ordered a rare rehearing by the full court, a rare session known as an en banc hearing.

It also comes as President Donald Trump’s administration has begun setting its own policies on LGBT rights. Late in January, the White House declared Trump would enforce an Obama administration order barring companies that do federal work from workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual identity. But in February, it revoked guidance on transgender students’ use of public school bathrooms, deferring to states.

The Hively case stems from a lawsuit by Indiana teacher Kimberly Hively alleging that the Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend didn’t hire her full time because she is a lesbian. The entire court reheard oral arguments in November and directed the toughest questions at a lawyer for the college who argued only Congress could extend the protections. The aggressive questions suggested the court might be willing to expand the 53-year-old landmark law.

Judge Diane Wood called it a “common-sense reality that it is actually impossible to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation without discriminating on the basis of sex.”

The 7th Circuit covers federal lawsuits out of Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Fitness/underwear model Max Emerson kinda broke Instagram with his pic from the West Point prom with the romantical pic (above) with his bf, U.S. Army soldier Andrés Camilo.

Captioned “Hello from #gay #army #prom,” Max and Andrés assumed the proper “prom position” for their pic.

Max was also generous in sharing a “before prom” pic:

House Intel Committee Member: Some Trump Associates Will Go To Prison Over Russian Ties

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer this afternoon, House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) said, with no pause, that based on the evidence he has seen some Donald Trump associates will go to prison over their ties to Russia.

BLITZER: You want to elaborate on that give us more? Because that is obviously a very intriguing statement.

CASTRO: I wish I could, but I can’t at this time.

BLITZER: You’re confident that some Trump associates will end up in jail.

CASTRO: If I were betting, yes.

BLITZER: Including some working in the new administration or people who worked or advised the president during the campaign or maybe during the transition?

CASTRO: As you can imagine, Wolf, I will have to comment on that later. But my impression is that people will probably be charged and probably go to jail.

Hunky Seth Tyler From “The Amazing Race”

Easily the hottest reason to watch Season 29 of CBS’s The Amazing Race is contestant Seth Tyler.

The openly gay 37 year-old is a public information officer and LGBTQ liaison for the Bellevue Police Department, outside of Seattle. Before that he was apparently a motorcycle cop for 8 years.

Grrrrrr….

Check out his official Amazing Race interview below, plus some woofy pics from his Instagram account.

Trump Attacks Obama For Doing Nothing In Syria; In 2013 Told Obama “Do Not Attack Syria”

I guess it’s a lot harder when you’re actually president, huh?

In light of the recent chemical attack in Syria that killed dozens, including women and children, Donald Trump issued the following statement:

Today’s chemical attack in Syria against innocent people, including women and children, is reprehensible and cannot be ignored by the civilized world. These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution. President Obama said in 2012 that he would establish a “red line” against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing. The United States stands with our allies across the globe to condemn this intolerable attack.

Sounds big and tough, no?

But back in 2013 it was Donald Trump telling President Obama, on more than one occasion, to not attack Syria.

More Advertisers Drop Bill O’Reilly In Light Of $13 Million Settlements In Alleged Sexual Harassment

More and more advertisers are fleeing Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor in the aftermath of the news that Bill O’Reilly had settled sexual harassment charges from 5 women to the tune of $13 million.

From The New York Times:

At least seven more marketers said they were withdrawing ads from “The O’Reilly Factor,’’ making a total of at least nine that have suspended sponsorship in the last 24 hours. Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai announced their decisions Monday night, and on Tuesday they were joined by BMW of North America; GlaxoSmithKline; T. Rowe Price; Allstate; Constant Contact, an online marketer; Untuckit, a men’s clothing distributor; and Sanofi Consumer HealthCare, which advertised products like ACT mouthwash on Mr. O’Reilly’s show.

The decisions come after The New York Times published an investigation last weekend that found that five women who had accused Mr. O’Reilly of sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior received settlements totaling about $13 million.
