Scenes From A Gay Cruise

I’m currently out on the high seas (on short notice) enjoying Atlantis Cruises’ voyage on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas.

Gorgeous ship, friendly passengers totally over 5,200 and terrific weather.

If you haven’t done a gay cruise with Atlantis, I highly recommend it.

Just a few snapshots from the journey so far 🙂

How could you not love this?

Having a drink last night, I met Randy Report reader Devon.
Nicest guy who stopped me to say he reads this here news blog every day. Made me smile bigly đꙂ

Love is in the air poolside…

#TBT: Donna Summer & Whitney Houston “I Feel My Love Is Your Love” Mashup

My hubby Michael recently found this mashup of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” paired with the Whitney Houston classic, “My Love Is Your Love,” and it’s been on repeat for a while now.

Feels like they were meant for each other.

Perfect for a #ThrowBackThursday…

Enjoy.

GLAAD: LGBT Acceptance Drops For 1st Time Under President Trump

Remember when Donald Trump told LGBTs he would be “much better for the gays?”

Yeah, not so much.

Via press release from GLAAD:

GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today announced the findings of its fourth annual Accelerating Acceptance report, a national survey among more than 2,100 U.S. adults conducted on GLAAD’s behalf by The Harris Poll. The results were announced during a panel discussion hosted by GLAAD and The Ariadne Getty Foundation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

For the first time in the report’s history, GLAAD and The Harris Poll found a drop in acceptance of LGBTQ people. As President Trump prepares to address the heads of state, business leaders, and largest philanthropists at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, GLAAD is on the ground in Davos to shine the spotlight on the rollback of LGBTQ acceptance, debut new initiatives, and be the lead voice for LGBTQ people around the globe.

Less than half of non-LGBTQ adults (49 percent) reported being “very” or “somewhat” comfortable with LGBTQ people across seven situations. This is a significant decline from 53 percent last year and the first time the Accelerating Acceptance report has shown a drop in acceptance for LGBTQ people.

GLAAD and The Harris Poll found that 55 percent of LGBTQ adults reported experiencing discrimination because of sexual orientation or gender identity. This number is a significant 11 percentage point increase from the previous year (44 percent).

There was a decline in non-LGBTQ adults’ comfortability around LGBTQ people, particularly in more personal situations. Compared to last year’s results, significantly more respondents noted that they would be uncomfortable learning a family member is LBGTQ (30 percent vs. 27 percent), having their child’s teacher be LGBTQ (31 percent vs. 28 percent), and learning their doctor is LGBTQ (31 percent vs. 28 percent).

“Murphy Brown” Reboot Officially In The Works

CBS just announced the classic hit 90s sitcom, Murphy Brown, is getting the reboot treatment a la Will & Grace and Roseanne.

Candice Bergen will return in the title role as well as do co-executive producer duties alongside Diane English.

The reboot already has a 13-episode commitment set to premiere this fall.

According to press materials, the show “will return to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate.”

It was a glorious original run for CBS sitcom winning 18 Emmy Awards, 3 Golden Globes, 3 SAG Awards as well as 2 wins each from the Directors Guild and Writers Guild.

Bergen took home 5 Emmy Awards herself as well as a Golden Globe. Near the end of the run, she actually took herself out of the running as a nod to her fellow nominees.

Oprah Shoots Down 2020 Speculation: “That’s Not For Me”

In a new interview with InStyle, Oprah Winfrey addressed those presidential rumors that have been swirling ever since her electrifying speech at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.

I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not. And so it’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it.

Gayle — who knows me as well as I know myself practically — has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, “When’s Oprah going to run?” So Gayle sends me these things, and then she’ll go, “I know, I know, I know! It wouldn’t be good for you—it would be good for everyone else.”

I met with someone the other day who said that they would help me with a campaign. That’s not for me.

Burger King Explains Net Neutrality

From Burger King:

The repeal of Net Neutrality is a hot topic in America, but it can be very difficult to understand. That’s why the BURGER KING® brand created WHOPPER® Neutrality, a social experiment that explains the effects of the repeal of Net Neutrality by putting it in terms anyone can understand: A WHOPPER® sandwich.

This effort aims to help people understand how the repeal of Net Neutrality will impact their lives.

The BURGER KING® brand believes the Internet should be like the WHOPPER® sandwich: the same for everyone.

Help keep Net Neutrality safe by signing the petition at Change.org/SavetheNet

Last year, Burger King created a video to address the issue of bullying.

Piers Morgan Gets First International Interview With Donald Trump

Via CNN’s Reliable Sources:

A White House source confirms to me that President Trump will be taping an interview with Piers Morgan in Davos on Wednesday.

Trump and Morgan are old pals, since Morgan won “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2008. The interview will air on ITV, where Morgan co-hosts “Good Morning Britain.” The Mirror is calling this the “first international TV interview” of Trump’s presidency: “ITV bosses are thrilled by the scoop… Morgan thinks it could be the biggest interview of his career…”

Song Of The Day: Alt-Rocker Juliana Hatfield Covers Olivia Newton-John “A Little More Love”

Alt-rocker Juliana Hatfield says she has never not loved pop music icon, Olivia Newton-John.

The Boston-based musician’s upcoming April 13 release, Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John, is a heartfelt tribute, with an focus on the four-time Grammy Award-winner’s ’70s and ’80s hits.

“I have never not loved Olivia Newton-John. Her music has brought me so much pure joy throughout my life. I loved her when I was a child and I love her still. Her voice and her positive energy and her melodies have stood the test of time and they give me as much pleasure now as they ever did. Listening to her is an escape into a beautiful place. She has inspired me so much personally and I just wanted to give something back; to share some of these tremendous songs, reinterpreted, with love, by me.”

In my opinion, the best tribute recordings pay respect to the original while bringing a new sensibility or perspective to the piece, which is exactly what Hatfield does here.

I like.

You can pre-order Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John via American Laundromat Records.

Hatfield will donate $1 from the sale of every album to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre (ONJ Centre), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing patients with cancer access to leading medical treatment, breakthrough research, and the best in wellness and supportive care.

Elton John Announces “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour”

Speaking to Anderson Cooper at a press conference announcing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, Elton John shared that this tour will be his last. “My priorities now are my children, and my husband, and my family…the time is right to say thank you to all my fans around the world, globally, and then to say goodbye.” Elton says he will continue to be creative, still perform perhaps, but without the rigors of world touring commitments.
