Trump Attacks Will & Grace Stars

Will & Grace stars Debra Messing and Eric McCormack recently took to social media to call for making public the list of Hollywood attendees to an upcoming Beverly Hills fundraiser to be held for Donald Trump’s reelection campaign. Trump, no surprise, clapped back proclaiming Messing once ‘profusely thanked’ him for starring in The Apprentice back in the day claiming his reality show “helped NBC’s failed lineup greatly.” https://twitter.com/DebraMessing/status/1167658588384501760?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1167658588384501760&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffeedly.com%2Fi%2Fcollection%2Fcontent%2Fuser%2Ffd6bf860-11d9-45fb-87cf-d7d48c69ac3d%2Fcategory%2Fglobal.all https://twitter.com/EricMcCormack/status/1167309987393110016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1167309987393110016&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffeedly.com%2Fi%2Fcollection%2Fcontent%2Fuser%2Ffd6bf860-11d9-45fb-87cf-d7d48c69ac3d%2Fcategory%2Fglobal.all https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1168153045026463747?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1168153045026463747&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffeedly.com%2Fi%2Fcollection%2Fcontent%2Fuser%2Ffd6bf860-11d9-45fb-87cf-d7d48c69ac3d%2Fcategory%2Fglobal.all https://www.instagram.com/p/B14QDYYHIfC/ https://twitter.com/LOLGOP/status/1168170925688311815?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1168170925688311815&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffeedly.com%2Fi%2Fcollection%2Fcontent%2Fuser%2Ffd6bf860-11d9-45fb-87cf-d7d48c69ac3d%2Fcategory%2Fglobal.all

Valerie Harper Passes Away At 80

Four-time Emmy Award-winner Valerie Harper has died at age 80 after a long battle with cancer. Last month, her family began a GoFundMe campaign to help with medical expenses. The fundraiser garnered over $66,000 before ending. Her husband Tony Cacciotti reached out to fans via social media:

I have been told by doctors to put Val in Hospice care and I can’t [because of our 40 years of shared commitment to each other] and I won’t because of the amazing good deeds she has graced us with while she’s been here on earth. We will continue going forward as long as the powers above allow us, I will do my very best in making Val as comfortable as possible.

The venerable actress was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009, and then in 2013 with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. She was told she wouldn’t live past three months, but chemotherapy helped her to rally. Harper went back to work, even appearing in the 2015 edition of Dancing with the Stars. Her early career including bit parts in Broadway musicals and films, but she will forever be remembered as one of the great sidekicks of all time, Mary Tyler Moore’s bestie, Rhoda Morgenstern, on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. The role, which would eventually be spun off to her own series, Rhoda, garnered her a Golden Globe Award and four Emmys. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Hollywood legend Tallulah Bankhead in Looped (2010). She is survived by her husband and their adopted daughter. Ten Dems Make The Cut For 3rd Primary Debate

Ten candidates for the Democratic nomination for president have made the cut for the third primary debate. The 10 candidates who qualified for September’s debate are Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Beto O’Rourke, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Andrew Yang. Just hours before the announcement Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) announced she was dropping out of the race. Via a video tweet, the NY senator shared that she’s proud of what her team accomplished, and expressed hope that a woman would end up the eventual nominee. “I think that women have a unique ability to bring people together and heal this country,” Ms. Gillibrand said, according to the NY Times, adding, “I think a woman nominee would be inspiring and exciting.” But she added: “I will support whoever the nominee is, and I will do whatever it takes to beat Trump.” https://twitter.com/SenGillibrand/status/1166826680134057984 With his usual lack of class, Donald Trump trolled Gillibrand shortly after her announcement.

Also not making the cut for the third debate were billionaire Tom Steyer, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock and self-help guru Marianne Williamson as well as Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and a handful of others. (lead image via MSNBC screen capture)

Cruising On The Mediterranean With Royal Caribbean

Hubby Michael and I both worked in the service industry, so we have great respect for the hard work that goes into the job. On the Atlantis Cruise we’re currently enjoying, we’ve gotten to know our cabin attendant, Isbeth, who’s fantastic. When we returned to our cabin tonight we found this fab creation holding court, enjoying some TV. Last night we were greeted by a similar creation (see the pup below). It really made us smile. Congrats Royal Caribbean on a really terrific employee.

As Dorian Intensifies, Trump Attacks San Juan Mayor

Weather forecasters say tropical Storm Dorian is growing stronger and could become a category 2 hurricane by the time it reaches Puerto Rico. But as the storm threatens the U.S. territory just two years after Hurricane Maria, Donald Trump took time to attack the mayor of San Juan. San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, who openly criticized the Trump administration’s response to Maria, told the media that Trump should “get out of the way” and let others do the job of preparing for Dorian. The Donald took to Twitter to boast about FEMA’s preparations in advance of the storm, ask for thanks before anything is done, and troll Cruz. https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1166685686105329664?s=21

Johnson & Johnson Must Pay $572 Million In Oklahoma Opioid Settlement

NBC News is reporting Johnson & Johnson has been hit with a $572 million penalty for its part in the Oklahoma opioid epidemic which caused more than 6,000 deaths.

Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter claimed in court that Johnson & Johnson (J&J) and its pharmaceutical subsidiary, Janssen, marketed opioids to doctors while downplaying the risks of the addictive painkillers since the 1990s.

The state claimed that the company’s sales push created “a public nuisance” that led to more than 6,000 deaths in Oklahoma over nearly two decades.

J&J has denied any wrongdoing and its attorney, John Sparks, disputed the application of the public nuisance law made by Oklahoma prosecutors. Sparks said the state was misinterpreting the law, having previously limited it to disputes involving property or public spaces.

Oklahoma had asked for $17.2 billion in its lawsuit.
