Joe Manganiello in talks to join Soderbergh movie about male strippers

True Blood’s Joe Manganiello is in final talks to join the Steven Soderbergh flick about male strippers that already stars Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Bomer.

Manganiello will play Big Dick Richie (no, didn’t make that up), a role that is sure to require the ripped actor to drop trou at one point or another.

The flick will feature Tatum as the title character, a veteran stripper who mentors a younger dancer. McConaughey will portray a former stripper who now owns the club, called Xquisite, where Tatum’s character works.

The movie will mark a reunion, of sorts, for Manganiello and Bomer – two former school chums who just worked together on an episode of White Collar. The True Blood werewolf shed the extra hair to play a villain on the USA drama. His episode will air when the series returns in January.

Meanwhile, Manganiello is expected to remain gainfully employed over at HBO, which just ordered a fifth season of True Blood. The current season ends on Sept. 11.

Magic Mike will start shooting on Sept. 14 for a 2012 release.

I’m personally of a mind that Joe Manganiello should do some research by visiting the Chippendales here in Las Vegas…  anyone agree?

Rush Limbaugh on Oreos and Obama

Rush Limbaugh on the new Oreo cookie and President Obama: “Kraft foods is going to launch a new Oreo … It’s a Triple Double Oreo. Do you like Oreos, is that? Well, it, what it’s going to be here, it’s actually a biracial cookie. You’ve got three of the chocolate wafers, and then you’ve got the white vanilla cream, the cream, and then there’s a chocolate cream. So you’ve got, you’ve got three — the stuff, the thing that says Oreo on it, the wafer. And then you’ve got the white cream, then you’ve got another chocolate wafer, then you’ve got the chocolate cream, and then you’ve got the bottom wafer. The Triple Double Oreo. You wait, it isn’t going to be long before it’s called the Or-Bam-eo, or something like this. Well, it’s a biracial cookie, here … In the midst of all this talk of obesity. And, I mean, every time Michelle Obama goes out there and talks about healthful eating, the food industry responds with, ‘Oh, yeah? Take this.’ And Kraft comes up with the Or-Bam-eo, the triple double-dipper.”

There is no way that Rush Limbaugh is ignorant of the racial slur “Oreo,” which refers to a black person who “acts white” or is white on the inside. Is this a pointed comment at President Obama being an “Oreo”?

Presidential Vacations

There has been some criticism of the president taking a few days vacation at this time. But how does the number of vacation days the president has spent compare to his predecessors? CBS Radio’s Mark Knoller has kept track of presidential vacations for years and supplied the data.

So far, President Obama has taken 61 vacation days after 31 months in office.  This number is actually only a third of what his predecessor had taken at this point in his presidency.

At this point in their presidencies:
George W. Bush had spent 180 days at his ranch
Ronald Reagan had taken 112 vacation days at his ranch.
Bill Clinton took the least time off — 28 days.

Unlike Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, who got grief for vacationing at the family estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, Obama doesn’t own a vacation home.

To be fair, a presidential vacation away from the White House is not the same as a vacation for the average person. The president is still in contact with his advisers and on call for any emergency.

Christine O’Donnell walks off the set of Piers Morgan – won’t answer questions about topics in her own book

Failed GOP senate candidate Christine O’Donnell walked off the set of CNN’s Piers Morgan tonight because he asked her questions about topics covered in her own book that she allegedly wrote regarding subjects like DADT, gay rights, etc…

Watch the video.

O’Donnell, whose handler apparently ended the interview, told Morgan that apparently she should be the one to decide what questions and topics were to be discussed, in dramatic contrast to normal interview practices.

Someone is obviously still living in a parallel universe.

Bachmann aide previously charged with terrorism and linked to Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” pastor

Via The Atlantic: The evangelical organizer who helped Michele Bachmann win the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa Saturday was previously charged with terrorism in Uganda after being arrested for possession of assault rifles and ammunition in February 2006.

Peter E. Waldron spent 37 days in the Luriza Prison outside Kampala, where he says he was tortured, after being arrested along with six Congolese and Ugandan nationals for the weapons, which were described variously in news reports as having been found in his bedroom or a closet in his home.

The charges, which could have led to life in prison, were dropped in March 2006 after a pressure campaign by Waldron’s friends and colleagues and what Waldron says was the intervention of the Bush administration.

In an article titled “Evangelicals v. Muslims in Africa: Enemy’s Enemy” and published in the US news magazine The New Republic in August 2004, Waldron says he is a friend of the first family of Uganda and a friend of Pastor Martin Ssempa. Ssempa, as many of you probably know, vigorously backed Uganda’s proposed death penalty for homosexuality known as the “Kill the Gays” bill.

So – to be clear – Rep. Michele Bachmann, a leading Republican candidate for the presidency of the United States, has a high-ranking aide who was arrested for allegedly smuggling assault weapons to a foreign regime that is presently working to legalize the executions of gay people.

Ummm, wow.

Major Hollywood names for reading of play “Prop 8”

Producers for Dustin Lance Black’s upcoming play, “Prop 8”, today announced some of the actors involved. And the list is impressive.

Major Hollywood players Anthony Edwards, Morgan Freeman, Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Lahti, Rob Reiner, Yeardley Smith and Marisa Tomei will all take part in the play’s one-night reading at the Eugene O’Neill Theater next month.

The play, which will be directed by Tony Award-winning Joe Mantello(“Wicked”, “Take Me Out”, “Assassins”), is based on interviews and trial transcripts that came from the passage of California’s Proposition 8, which prohibits same-sex marriage in that state.

Trailer for Chris Evans new movie ‘Puncture’

The trailer for Chris Evans’ new movie – “Puncture”

“Mike Weiss (Chris Evans) is a talented young Houston lawyer and a functioning drug addict. Paul Danziger (co-director Mark Kassen), his longtime friend and partner, is the straight-laced and responsible yin to Mike’s yang. Their mom-and-pop personal injury law firm is getting by, but things really get interesting when they decide to take on a case involving Vicky (Vinessa Shaw), a local ER nurse, who is pricked by a contaminated needle on the job. As Weiss and Danziger dig deeper into the case, a health care and pharmaceutical conspiracy teeters on exposure and heavyweight attorneys move in on the defense. Out of their league but invested in their own principles, the mounting pressure of the case pushes the two underdog lawyers and their business to the breaking point.”

Slated for a limited theatrical release September 23rd.
