Bally Technologies to unveil new GREASE casino game
Bally Technologies, Inc. will unveil games featuring popular icons Michael Jackson, Betty Boop and the cast of the hit movie Grease at the 2011 Global Gaming Expo Oct. 4-6 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center on the Las Vegas Strip.
Grease, inspired by the 1978 American musical film about two love-struck teens in a 1950s high school starring superstars Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, is Bally’s first double-play game, featuring two, 25-line games – enabling the player to play two games at once.
Spam of the day: Compare Forklifts
So I used to think spam email had to be based on SOMETHING. Somehow, something about my internet usage points me up to these folks who send me crap. Kind of like Google ads.
But then, this morning I get this in my email and I have to laugh. Clearly someone is willing to send ANYTHING to ANYBODY. Not a single thing in this ad even remotely relates or appeals to me.

President Obama begins speaking at the 9:20 mark.
I think it was a good speech. Considering he spoke for 20 minutes, he listed accomplishments, hit future goals and fired up the base for the election ahead.
I think there’s a reality to what can be done in a single speech and in a single term. He’s done more than any other American President for the LGBT community.
I know many would like to see more done – as do I – but I also have a sense of reality in an election year how much will or can get done. With the GOP candidates running so far to the right, Obama needs to move to the center to hold on to the independent voters as well as his base in the Democrat party.
I also believe that a 2nd term President Obama will be a different President than a 1st term President Obama. These are political realities. With the experience of four years, plus the lack of pressure regarding re-election I honestly believe President Obama will press harder on many of the issues that concern the LGBT community.
Revolution often represents quick changes that don’t last, while evolution can be slow changes that do last.
I had a few “conversations” tonight after the speech, and while others kept saying we have to keep “pushing” Obama – and I agree with “keep pushing” – there’s a point where it becomes a negative if all the LGBT community does is bitch and complain about what President Obama hasn’t done for us. Push – but know there are political realities.
Thank you for what you’ve done for us President Obama. Please keep moving forward.

Let’s save some money
So, the economy is tightening for everyone in the middle class it seems, and I decided to explore some options this week.
Just three examples of some major money savings I found this week:
1. I called our cell phone company and found out we pay for 3,000 minutes a month as a family plan but only use about 1,000. We also had a wireless internet card (at $60 a month) that didn’t work that great and we don’t use that much. So I cancelled the $60 a month wireless card and lowered our minutes from 3,000 to 1,400 (next lowest plan). Savings a month = $120 – Savings a year = $1,440
2. A few years ago, we got talked into using some local phone company that our average landline monthly bill was $60 with .05 per minute long distance. I bundled with our internet and cable company, and dropped our payments to $30 a month WITH unlimited long distance to US and Canada. Savings a month = $30 – Savings a year = $360
3. We bought my car at CarMax (great place to buy a car) but the interest rate was 7.25% on the loan. I applied at the local credit union and got a refinance rate of 2.99% Savings a month = $110 – Savings a year = $1,320 (Savings over the life of the loan = $5,280)
So just this week by shopping around, I saved us $200 a month and $2,400 a year.
Last one – using coupons and reading the grocery flyer and being part of the grocery store “club” I saved 40% on my last grocery shopping bill. And it wasn’t even hard! (One great tip: buy 6 bottles of wine at a time and get additional 10% off. You’re gonna drink it eventually…)
Feeling kinda good about all this.

Unexplainable, Inexcusable
A senator or congressman can recieve a nice yearly 35k pension at 62 just for serving 5 years.
A member of the Reserves or National Guard that serves 33 years with the rank of E-7 gets only $16,800 a year. If that same person was on active duty for 20 years retiring with the same rank would receive a little more than $22,000 a year.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform… in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: “Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ..”
Sign this petition asking Congress and the President to make all laws affect all Americans equally.

Sally Field lists her Malibu home – formerly owned by Olivia Newton-John

(Normally, I wouldn’t post something like this thinking it was intrusive, but since this was featured on the Realtor.com blog, I’m assuming Sally Field has no problem with it. As a Realtor myself, perhaps I’ll be helping her sell the home faster.)
Academy Award-winning actress Sally Field has listed her Malibu, CA home for $5.9 million.
This 5 bedroom, 6 bath, 5,964-square foot home on 3.06 acres was built in 1958 and boasts hill and mountain views. This horse property also has four parking spaces, a tennis court, a swimming pool, basement, den, office space and a guest house.
The home, which was formerly owned by Olivia Newton John, is a short drive from the Pacific. It overlooks Tuna Canyon Park and is right around the corner from the famous celeb rehab center Promises.
Field nabbed her pair of Oscars for her turns in “Norma Rae” (1980) and “Places in the Heart” (1985). She also won three Emmy Awards for her performances in “Brothers & Sisters”(2007),” “ER” (2001) and “Sybil” (1977).
