Saturday morning dance class
Osiel Giros
You don’t have to be a dancer to get how terrific this guy is.
Look at the line, his height on his jumps, the position and ease of his turns…
Oh yeah. That’s pretty fabulous.

Film: “Legalize Gay”
A new generation is leading the campaign for LGBT equality, often in parts of the country hostile to gay and lesbian rights. “Legalize Gay” captures the courage and passion of these young activists, gay and straight, who are determined to close the deal on full equality for the LBGT community. A film by Christopher Hines.
With appearances by:
• Hudson Taylor, the college wrestler turned LGBT advocate
• Daniel Hernandez, who gained notoriety when he aided Rep. Gabbie Giffords after she was shot in Tucson
• Claire Buffie, Miss New York, the first contestant in Miss America’s history to make LGBT equality her platform
• Brian Sims, the first openly gay college football captain who is now looking to make history again in his bid for a seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives
• Ben Cohen, the rugby star turned LGBT advocate and founder of the StandUp Foundation
and many others
The film is slated to premiere on Logo next year, but the director has joined with the organization Campus Pride for exclusive advanced screenings, accompanied by an educational guide to encourage activism in the campaign for LGBT equality.
Only the questions Mitt likes
The DNC has released a new video addressing what looks like Mitt Romney’s frustrations when asked questions he doesn’t like.
This comes after he apparently was not happy with the degree of questions he was asked earlier this week in a FOX News interview with Bret Baier.
George Michael’s condition improving
Singer George Michael is on the mend after being admitted to Vienna’s AKH hospital last week, forcing him to postpone the remaining dates of his European tour.
Doctors treating the recording star have since issued a statement to update fans on Michael’s condition, saying that while he remains hospitalized, his health is “improving”.
Professors Gottfried Locker and Christoph Zielinski said: “The latest development in Mr Michael’s case, which has evolved from a severe pneumococcal infection, necessitated intensive care due to its severity and extension.
“We are happy to announce that Mr Michael is improving steadily with an impressive regression of pneumonic symptoms and follows a steady rate of improvement as hoped.”
Upon news of his hospitalization, the internet was rife with innuendo that his pneumonia was HIV related. The doctors treating George Michael seemed to address those rumors in their statement.
“There are no other health issues with regards to the patient other than the underlying pneumonic disorder, and no further measures had to be taken,” they said.
“Michael is receiving precisely the same treatment as any ordinary patient in Austria would receive at the hospital for this disease.”

Unemployment drops to 8.6 from 9%
The good news is the Labor Department reported Friday that the unemployment rate dropped to 8.6% in November, the lowest since March 2009 and a sharp improvement from 9.0% in October. As you can see from the chart above showing the unemployment rate under President Obama, while unemployment shot up in the first several months of his presidency – before his policies could affect any change – the rate has been dropping.
The bad news is part of this month’s drop in the unemployment rate comes from long term unemployed folks who are discouraged from looking and stop. Those people aren’t factored into the “unemployed” number.
And employers added only 120,000 jobs in October — well off the number that economists say is needed just to keep pace with population growth.
But the drop in the unemployment number is at least a good psychological boost to many, who need to feel things are at least moving in the right direction.
I think the important thing isn’t one month’s report. What needs to happen is America needs to see several months of steady improvement, so that folks can wrap their heads around the idea that things are improving AND small business owners – who we are told over and over need to see something stable before they begin hiring again – get their “stabilization cue” and actual start creating jobs again.
And then, Americans might start feeling better about the economy. Right now, that’s not happening.
