TLC’s My Crazy Obsession: A Real Life Adult Baby

TLC introduces a real life, adult baby on an all-new episode of MY CRAZY OBSESSION premiering this Wednesday, March 21 at 10/9c.

Stanley is 31 years-old and has been completely obsessed with being an adult baby for the last eighteen years of his life. He has immersed himself into all things baby: pacifiers, baby bottles, diapers, sleeping in a crib and even eating baby food in a highchair to help him live out his fantasy of being a two year-old toddler.

MY CRAZY OBSESSION pulls back the curtains to reveal some of the nation’s most extreme and unique obsessions. The series takes viewers behind-the-scenes of homes that are dedicated entirely to the owners’ infatuation with various objects, people, or lifestyles.

Sen. Scott Brown: “Move on” from same-sex marriage

In an interview last night with Piers Morgan on CNN, Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) explained that marriage equality is settled law in his state and “everybody’s moved on”:

MORGAN: Massachusetts is one of the states that’s approved gay marriage. How do you personally feel about that?

BROWN: Well, it’s settled law in Massachusetts. Quite frankly, everybody’s moved on.

MORGAN: Do people care that much? I mean, those who argue against it say this is like the end of civilization as we know it.

BROWN: Certainly some people care. And others have moved on. But they’re really concerned about how they’re going to pay their mortgage. Both people, gay and straight, they’re wondering about how they’re going to pay their mortgage, or if their kids and families are going to come home safe as they travel around the country and the world.

It’s debt, deficit, taxes, spending, jobs, national security. We’ve moved on. I encourage everyone else to move on. It should be decided state by state basis. I’m focusing on those other things.

As much as he’d like to “move on” from the subject, I’m sure Sen. Brown would like us to forget that just two weeks ago, Massachusetts Democrats were urging Brown to change his position, but he dismissed it as a “social issue.”

He has voted to ban same-sex marriage twice before, and he even refused to participate in an “It Gets Better” video for LGBT youth with the Massachusetts Congressional delegation.

I think he’s tip-toeing around the subject so he doesn’t become the next Kirk Cameron in an election year.

Organic Ketchup is Better For You

The big difference between store brand and organic ketchup has nothing to do with the amount of calories, sodium, or sugar in either – rather, it’s the amount of the cancer-fighting pigment called lycopene in the organic brands which acts as an antioxidant in the body.

Organically-grown tomatoes have twice as much lycopene as regular tomatoes.

Lycopene, which gives tomatoes (and other fruits and vegetables such as watermelon and apricots) their red color, is not produced by the body. It has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men.

So next time you’re grocery shopping, maybe consider the “organic” thing isn’t a fad – it’s actually better for you.

Carl Siciliano writes to Cardinal Dolan on behalf of homeless LGBT youth

From JMG: Carl Siciliano, director of the Ali Forney Center – the nation’s largest organization dedicated to homeless LGBT youth – has written an essay for Huffington Post.  Everyone should read this.

Here’s just part of the essay:

“Cardinal Dolan, I pray that you might be able to open your eyes and your heart to the cruel suffering LGBT youths endure when their parents reject them. I invite you to visit the Ali Forney Center, only 30 blocks from St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and meet with youths whose Catholic parents drove them from their homes. I want you to hear them tell you what it is like to have their parents be ashamed of them, and tell them that they are against God. I want you to see what their lives are like alone, unloved, and abandoned in the streets. I hope that by meeting our kids you can understand the pain and anguish you help to cause.

“Decent people protect children from harm. I want you to be that decent person. I hope decent Christians will join me in demanding that religious leaders stop promoting homophobia. As the Cardinal Archbishop of New York, and as the President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, you may well be the most influential religious leader in the country, and could make an enormous difference in this crisis of family rejection. I hope and pray that you can stop fighting the acceptance of LGBT people as equal citizens. I want you to understand how LGBT youth suffer because of such a fight. Please see these rejected children through the eyes of a pastor and figure out a way to stop causing them to be harmed.”

Kirk Cameron still in damage control mode – blames Piers Morgan for asking questions

Kirk Cameron is worried his anti-gay comments will affect his new “movie” so he’s in damage control mode.

You may remember a couple of weeks ago he said on Piers Morgan’s show on CNN about homosexuality: “I think that it’s unnatural. I think that it’s detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

His spin later was to say that that means he loves gay people and even has gay friends.

Now he’s giving interviews trying to clear the air.

On Fox News he said “I don’t change my feeling about the comments. What disheartens me (is that Piers Morgan took) “some answers, reduce[d] an important and personal and sensitive issue to a four-second sound bite and toss[ed] it into a community to start a political bonfire. [To] really upset people you’re saying you’re looking to protect…is disingenuous.”

What’s disingenuous is Kirk trying to say he blurted out a “four-second soundbite” when the discussion about the subject was actually almost three minutes. Kirk had plenty of time to be thoughtful and make his feelings clear. Which I think he did.  And Piers Morgan didn’t “toss” any sound bite out into a community.  Kirk said it – and the world heard.

Kirk also gave an interview to The Daily Beast where he said this:

“When my friend who came to me and said you’re the first person I’m telling this to, I’ve known you for 10 years, I’m gay. I could tell how difficult it was. It’s personal. It’s sensitive. It’s difficult. He was nervous what my reaction would be. I said, ‘Dude, you know me. I love you. There’s nothing you could ever tell me that would make me not love you and care about you.’ If Piers had asked me that: what do you think about homosexuals? What do you think about the gay community?”

On what he’d do if his son was gay:

“It does grieve me to think there are people misunderstanding my heart on an issue. If my kids came to me and said I’m gay, I’d say, ‘Son, I love you.’ That’s never at stake. Never, never, never at stake. We’ll talk and we’ll go through life together and we’ll work through our thoughts and feelings and we’ll come to what’s healthy. You’ll make your decisions and I’ll make mine.”

When Ramin Setoodeh asks about gay marriage, Cameron’s publicist interrupts: “I don’t mean to interrupt. I think we’ve gone enough into it. The gay marriage, I just want to stay away from it. It’s just so polarizing.”

And I think that says all you need to know. Kirk Cameron wants you know he loves gays, but let’s not talk about things that are “polarizing.”  He wants to give interviews hoping you’ll like him, but he can’t talk about the issue that started it all.

Got it.

UPDATE: After Kirk spent the day doing damage control, Piers Morgan tweeted an invitation to Kirk Cameron to come back on his show uncensored and discuss the gay issue.

Three year old boy in wheelchair searched by TSA agent

In recent years, the Transportation Security Agency has come under fire for what many perceive to be unjustified and unnecessary searches. Now a video has surfaced, reportedly shot in 2010, in which a three-year-old boy in a wheelchair with a broken leg is subjected to an extended search from a TSA agent.

The three minute clip, which was shot by the boy’s father Matt Dubiel, shows the boy looking increasingly concerned as a TSA agent swabs the boy’s hands, legs, and back for residue from explosives. Apparently, the child’s parents were not allowed to comfort him or hold his hand during the process. You can hear Dubiel assuring his son that everything will be OK and trying to keep his son from having a panic attack.

According to Fox News Radio, the video was shot by Dubiel. He and his family were flying to Disney World when they were stopped. While speaking to Fox News Radio, Dubiel said he found the footage over the weekend and decided to post it.

Soundtrack: “A Few Best Men” to be released digitally in US

A Few Best Men

So I just heard that the soundtrack for “A Few Best Men” starring Olivia Newton-John will finally be released in the USA digitally on April 24th.

I know a lot of fans have been looking forward to the release as an indicator of when the movie may make it’s debut here. No word on that yet from my sources, but I’ll post as soon as I hear.

Rick Santorum: “The unemployment rate doesn’t matter to me”

Santorum has made this argument many times, as Dave Weigel points out at Slate, but the soundbite and the message convey his campaign’s lesser focus on the economy.

Perhaps this is because Santorum’s focus is on the social issues?

Mitt Romney in Peria, Ill. later same day: “I do care about the unemployment rate, it does bother me. I want to put people back to work.”

Infighting is fun…

President Jimmy Carter supports marriage equality

“In all of [Jesus’] teachings about multiple things -– he never said that gay people should be condemned. I personally think it is very fine for gay people to be married in civil ceremonies.”

“I draw the line, maybe arbitrarily, in requiring by law that churches must marry people. I’m a Baptist, and I believe that each congregation is autonomous and can govern its own affairs. So if a local Baptist church wants to accept gay members on an equal basis, which my church does by the way, then that is fine. If a church decides not to, then government laws shouldn’t require them to.” – President Jimmy Carter speaking to the Huffington Post
