Commercial: Diesel’s Only the Brave fragrance

Things kick off with climbing down fire escapes and jumping into rivers in what resembles a trailer for a Jason Bourne-type action thriller. As it becomes clear that the two men are traveling towards each other, the commercial cuts to a close-up of a woman’s red lipsticked mouth saying, “I can’t wait for what is to come.”

The clip may suggest the guys are about to engage in a fist fight. But it also looks like these guys might just as easily start making out.

Check it out below and let me know how you interpret it.

Three million new iPads sold in first weekend

Apple announced on Monday that it has sold 3 million new iPads since the device launch on March 16.

The company, which had cited “record” sales earlier in the day, has now backed up that boast. “The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet,” Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of wordwide marketing, said in a press release from the company. “Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.”

Laying out opening weekend results is fairly unusual for Apple, which typically waits until its quarterly meeting with analysts to outline such numbers.

Dennis Terry introduces Presidential candidate Rick Santorum with a speech of fire and brimstone

Get ready for some fire and brimstone sinners.

Greenwell Springs Baptist Church pastor Dennis Terry introduced presidential candidate Rick Santorum and Family Research Council president Tony Perkins Sunday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a rousing speech railing against liberals and non-Christians and condemning abortion rights, “sexual perversion,” same-sex marriage and secular government.

Terry said that America “was founded as a Christian nation” and those that disagree with him should “get out! We don’t worship Buddha, we don’t worship Mohammad, we don’t worship Allah!” Terry, who has a long history of attacks against the gay community, went on to criticize marriage equality for gays and lesbians, and said that the economy can only recover when we “put God back” in government.

So, in case you didn’t get all that: you don’t belong in the United States if you believe in any other religion other than this that of Dennis Terry.  Those of you thinking the Constitution ensured freedom of religion were clearly wrong according to Mr. Terry.

Notice, Rick Santorum seems to have NO problem with Mr. Terry’s positions.

At the end of the event, Terry prayed over Santorum and asked God to “have favor upon Rick Santorum.”

Peyton Manning headed to Denver?

Peyton Manning is negotiating to join the Denver Broncos, ESPN reported Monday.

Citing anonymous sources, ESPN said that the four-time MVP has instructed agent Tom Condon to negotiate the details of a deal with Denver. Manning became a free agent when the Indianapolis Colts released him March 7 after the quarterback missed all of last season because of multiple neck surgeries.

The addition of Manning could well lead to Denver trading Tim Tebow, even though the popular QB energized the Broncos in leading them to the playoffs last season despite some uneven play.

One of two other teams considered finalists for in the race to sign Manning, the Tennessee Titans, released a statement Monday saying they were out of the picture.

Racist bumper sticker defended by seller

From Think Progress: President Obama’s critics hate being labeled racists, but occasionally it’s hard to argue with the charges. Paula Smith, the owner Stickatude.com, is defending a popular bumper sticker that is igniting debate on race and spawning widespread condemnation.

“Don’t Re-Nig in 2012,” reads the sticker — a not-too-subtle play on a word that invokes one of the most repulsive racial epithets to attack the country’s first black president. Yet, Smith sees absolutely nothing wrong with it, as she told Forbes:

Ms. Smith insisted that the bumper sticker is not racist. I asked her about the “N” word, for which “nig” is the shortened version. “According to the dictionary [the N word] does not mean black. It means a low down, lazy, sorry, low down person. That’s what the N word means.”

Even if one were to ignore the racial scars of left by the “N-word” and rely solely on an academic definition, Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary defines it as an offensive word referring to “a black person.”

But she goes further, explaining that her website found the design on a different site in 2010 and decided to sell it herself because she “thought it was cute.” Pressed by Forbes on whether she thought the N-word is offensive at all, she replied “no,” explaining that she herself doesn’t use it and that she has “helped black families.” “And besides,” she added, “Obama is not even black. He’s got a mixture of race. It’s his choice of what his nationality is.”

Perhaps most upsetting of all is the fact that the sticker is currently the site’s top seller. Smith says she no longer actively maintains the website, and that she thought the site was “dead.” But in the last few days, people have been buying up the sticker at $3 apiece.

Ottawa: Marriage Proposal on the ice

From Yahoo Sports: On Saturday night at Scotiabank Place, a Toronto Maple Leafs fan named Alicia stood on the ice during the second intermission wearing a blindfold. When it was removed, she looked up at the video scoreboard and read a message from her girlfriend, an Ottawa Senators fan named Christina.

Schmaltzy music played. Out walked Christina. They embraced and had a brief conversation, as the crowd began to wise up to what was about to happen.

Christina dropped to one knee while holding Alicia’s hand. The fans roared. She slid the engagement ring on, they shared a kiss and the Senators mascot proudly raised a sign that read “SHE SAID YES.”
