Sam Champion comes out – with a marriage announcement
“GMA” weather anchor Sam Champion and boyfriend Rubem Robierb are engaged to be married. “We are thrilled and so excited and thank everyone for their good wishes,” says Champion.
Champion and Robierb met through mutual friends a few years ago in Miami, where Robierb lives. Born in Brazil, Robierb is a fine-arts photographer who shows his work in Miami, Atlanta, Santa Monica and New York.
The “announcement” is similar to the low-key way The Big Bang Theory Emmy winner Jim Parsons came out this summer, with mention of his partner also buried in a Times article. Credit Zachary Quinto for starting the oh-by-the-way coming out trend when he discussed his sexuality for the first time in a New York magazine profile.
Champion and Robierb plan to wed later this year.
GLAAD: More LGBT characters on TV this year
LGBT representation on the five TV networks has risen from last year’s 2.9% to 4.4% according to GLAAD’s “Where We Are on TV” report.
ABC had the most LGBT characters on network TV while Showtime had the most on cable TV.
“This year’s increase of LGBT characters on television reflects a cultural change in the way gay and lesbian people are seen in our society,” said GLAAD president Herndon Graddick in the report. “More and more Americans have come to accept their LGBT family members, friends, coworkers, and peers, and as audiences tune into their favorite programs, they expect to see the same diversity of people they encounter in their daily lives.”

CBS on Friday revealed the winner of its first-ever model search, Rob Wilson of Boston.
Wilson attended an open call in late August, and worked his way into the top three, before beating out two other finalists.
Wilson clinched the one-week gig after facing off against fellow finalists Clint Brink and Nick Denbeigh by writing and singing original lyrics to the show’s theme song, showing his excitement when he was asked to “Come on down!” and more. The decision was made by fan votes, who cast their ballots during the period of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.
Wilson’s one week run on THE PRICE IS RIGHT begins on Monday, Oct. 15. “The Price Is Right” airs weekdays at 10 PT /11 ET a.m. on CBS.

Romney now admits “completely wrong” on 47% comment
After spinning his comment about the “47%” for a month, now Mitt Romney is backtracking and saying it was “completely wrong.”
Initially, Romney just said what he was trying to say was “not elegantly stated.” But he never disavowed the statements.
Now that he’s trying to pivot to the middle of the political spectrum, he feels differently:
“Well, clearly in a campaign, with hundreds if not thousands of speeches and question-and-answer sessions, now and then you’re going to say something that doesn’t come out right,” Romney said. “In this case, I said something that’s just completely wrong.”
He added: “And I absolutely believe, however, that my life has shown that I care about 100 percent and that’s been demonstrated throughout my life. And this whole campaign is about the 100 percent.”

New Yorkers dance in Miasha’s video “Everybody’s Beautiful”
The video, directed by P.R. Brown (who has worked with Alicia Keys and Prince), features cameos of random New Yorkers (including at least one gay man) who Miasha met on the street and recorded dancing with her smartphone.
“People often feel vulnerable when they dance,” said Miasha. “But when people watch other people dance, they feel happy and they see beauty and honesty. I wanted to capture the diversity we have here every day and show how just by watching a stranger lose him or herself in the moment for a few seconds, we can feel that same beauty. We took a boom box to the Lower East Side, and with a tiny camera in hand, went up to 55 total strangers blasting the song, and asked them to ‘break it down.’ Of course, being in NYC, they all said yes!”
