Minnesota Vikings’ Chris Kluwe for marriage equality

Minnesota Vikings’ Chris Kluwe on the hurtful, freedom-limiting marriage amendment currently on the ballot in Minnesota:

“It’s not the government’s job to tell us what to do. That’s not what America stands for. At the end of the day, this is an issue about freedom… and treating other people the way that you would like to be treated.”

The Maryland campaign for marriage equality continues to see money coming their way.

“Paul’s leadership on marriage equality continues to amaze and sets an example for other fair-minded members of the Republican Party,” said Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign, a founder of Marylanders for Marriage Equality. “His investment in the equality and dignity of Marylanders reflects the growing bipartisan support to get Question 6 over the finish line in these critical final weeks.”

Paul Ryan makes doubly sure soup kitchen pans are clean

Making the rounds today is this pic taken at staged photo-op with Paul Ryan at a soup kitchen in Youngstown, OH.

Apparently the idea was for Ryan and family to “help out” at a local soup kitchen, but upon arriving found that the morning meal service had been completed and the volunteers had cleaned up already.

Undeterred, Ryan pretended to clean already-clean dishes while the media dutifully snapped photos, the Washington Post reports.

Ryan stood at the sink and took some large metal pans that did not appear to be dirty, soaped them up and rinsed them, remarking as the cameras clicked and the TV cameras rolled that he had spent a summer washing dishes when he was younger.

That Paul Ryan – he cares so much for the homeless he really wanted to make doubly sure those pans were clean. What a guy.
