New Facebook page: Brian Brown tried to kiss me

Towleroad points up this new Facebook group.

Here’s just a sample entry:

I met Brian in 2010 at an event in Allentown. We got to talking and he said he would like to take me to a Central Catholic boy’s wrestling match. I didn’t think much of it and said I would love to join him.

At the match he kept saying things like “I bet you couldn’t pin me” and “how much do you think a singlet costs?”

Afterwards, on the way to the car, he said we should have a wrestling match and tried to put me in a headlock. I pushed him away and he lunged at me with his mouth open. I am positive he was trying to kiss me. I ran to my car and haven’t seen him since.

Occasionally he’ll text me, but it’s almost always late at night and usually just says “Hi” or “You up?”

Ted Nugent: Take away constitutional right of voting from those on welfare

“Let’s stop the insanity by suspending the right to vote of any American who is on welfare. Once they get off welfare and are self-sustaining, they get their right to vote restored. No American on welfare should have the right to vote for tax increases on those Americans who are working and paying taxes to support them. That’s insane.

“In addition to suspending a welfare recipient’s right to vote, we also need to get our voting system straightened out and eliminate voter fraud. We need to ensure that only Americans vote by requiring polling places to validate the identification of each voter. It shouldn’t take a Motown guitar slayer to come up with these common-sense bargaining chips before taxes are raised on the producers, which will further choke the economy. How about it, GOP?” – Right wing former rock star Ted Nugent, writing for the Moonie Times.

Adam Levine is not a fan of Honey Boo Boo

Breaking News: Adam Levine really has no use for Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

He tells GQ:

“Seriously, Honey Boo Boo is the DECAY of Western civilization. Just because so many people watch the show doesn’t mean it’s good. So many people witness atrocities and can’t take their eyes away from them, but that doesn’t mean they’re good. That show is literally The. Worst. Thing. That’s. Ever. Happened. It’s complete f**king ignorance and the most despicable way to treat your kids. F**k those people. You can put that in the magazine: F**k those idiots. They’re just the worst. Sorry, I’m so sensitive to that—like, I don’t know, man, it’s upsetting. Just to clarify, I said, “F**K THOSE PEOPLE.”

The Osmonds 1974 – Fiddler On The Roof Medley

I grew up loving the Osmonds. I sooo wanted to be Donny Osmond. What a talented family.

And of course, Donny continues to have a career longevity that few people could rival.

A friend posted the above video on Facebook today. Made me laugh – not AT the Osmond Bros, but the idea of this “1974 hip Fiddler medley” of all things. I’m sure it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Still talented guys…

Poll: Republicans will bear more blame if “fiscal cliff” failure

Republicans will shoulder more blame than President Barack Obama if Congress fails to pass legislation to prevent automatic spending cuts and tax increases, known as the “fiscal cliff,” according to a new poll.

Fifty-three percent of adults said Republicans in Congress will be “more to blame” if an agreement is not reached, according to a new survey conducted by the Washington Post and the Pew Research Center Nov. 29-Dec. 2.

Only 27 percent of respondents placed more blame on the president and 12 percent faulted both the president and the GOP.

A party breakdown of respondents shows blame directed at the opposing party. But among Independents, Republicans received 52 percent of blame and the president received 21 percent.

A CNN/ORC International survey released last week indicated more Americans would blame the GOP in Congress (45%) rather than Obama (34%) if the fiscal cliff provisions actually go into effect next year.

Cool time lapse overlay – San Diego International Airport

Check out this curious 25-second time-lapse/composite video that shows every airplane that landed at San Diego International Airport on Black Friday a week ago between 10:30am and 3pm.

The giant planes whiz by overhead as if they’re part of a fighter jet squadron heading off to battle — not something you’d expect to see with commercial planes at an airport. It was created by photography and film professor Cy Kuckenbaker.

Movie: “Five Dances” – new trailer & website

FIVE DANCES trailer from Alan Brown on Vimeo.

Earlier this year I wrote about a beautiful new movie – “Five Dances” – that I had discovered due to Kickstarter. I made a pledge to the project as the creators were in need of money for final editing. It’s been cool and inspiring following the updates to the project as it’s unfolded.

The money came through and now there’s a new trailer for the movie and a new website.

From the website:

“The classic tale of finding success and romance in the big city is given a contemporary, and unconventional, spin in Alan Brown’s new film, FIVE DANCES. Collaborating with internationally renowned choreographer Jonah Bokaer, writer-director Brown has taken five gifted New York dancers, and fashioned a story about Chip (Ryan Steele in his first film role), an extraordinarily talented 18 year-old recently arrived from Kansas who joins a small downtown modern dance company. In his first weeks of rehearsal, Chip is initiated into the rites of passage of a New York dancer’s life, where discipline and endless hard work, camaraderie and competitiveness, the fear of not being good enough, and the joy of getting it just right, inform every minute of every day.

“Shooting in and around a Soho dance studio, Brown and his longtime cinematographer Derek McKane capture the exhilaration and emotional turmoil of a small dance company, and all of Chip’s poignant firsts—the forging of friendships, being chosen for the important solo, his first ever love affair—with the intimacy and immediacy of a documentary. The result, FIVE DANCES, is Brown’s most dynamic film.”

Can’t wait to see it. Look for it soon.

NYPD: It Gets Better

The New York Police Department has recorded a video for the It Gets Better Project, the series that seeks to help LGBT teens get through tough times by reminding them that life will improve.

“There was a time that I wanted to disappear, it was that painful, so I understand what it feels like,” says Det. Carl Locke, president of the Gay Officers Action League, in the video. “But it does get better.”

Police commissioner Ray Kelly reminds gay youth that they can turn to the police for help if they’re being bullied. “No one should have to suffer for being who they are,” he says.
