First clip of Manti Te’o interview with Katie Couric released
The first clip of Katie Couric’s interview with Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o was released today.
I want to know more about this Ronaiah Tuiasosopo and why he won’t answer questions. I’m starting to believe, from the little we’ve seen, that Manti was deceived.
And for the record, while we don’t know for sure, I do find it plausible Manti was deceived and then embarrassed at being gullible or naive enough to buy into the story.
While many of us may think “hey, he’s a famous college football player, why would be buy into some online romance?,” we don’t really know Manti Te’o well enough to understand his personal, private perspective of himself and his dating experience.
Just my two cents. We’ll all been fooled at some point. And we’ve all been a little embarrassed at some point. This is still a young guy on a national stage.
I’m cutting the guy some slack.
Bryan Fischer segues from the Inaugural to attacking gays “right to sodomy”
I give you Bryan Fischer of the virulently anti-gay American Family Association.
I love that Fischer brings up the fact that sodomy was outlawed for 200 years. Slavery was legal for hundreds of years, but we finally stopped that. Women couldn’t vote for hundreds of years – that wrong was righted. Do I really need to explain again how society evolves?
What happens in the bedroom of two consenting adults is a matter of privacy. And the Supreme Court has ruled on the right of privacy. And it’s a pretty common sense issue at that.
In case you ever wonder why I write and post so much about marriage equality and equal rights, here’s what the LGBT community deals with every day of our lives.
Many people may not be aware that this kind of propaganda happens every single day in the world.
So, if you ever wonder why I’m so adamant about equality for all, watch this video and realize that this is what gays and lesbians have to cope with all the time.

Sec. of State Hillary Clinton has had enough of Sen. Ron Johnson
Hillary Clinton decides she has had enough of Sen. Ron Johnson during a line of questioning from Republican Senator Ron Johnson during hearings about the Benghazi attack.
Sen. Johnson seems to believe there was something sinister and deliberate behind the original, early intelligence reports about the attack and what we learned a few weeks later.
Said Johnson: “Again, we were misled there was supposedly protests and something spraying out of that, assault spraying out of that. That was easily ascertained that was not the fact and the american people could have known that within days and didn’t know that.”
Clinton responds: “With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans! Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night decided to go kill some Americans?! What difference at this point does it make?! It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again.”
Prop 8 proponents file opening brief with SCOTUS
The anti-gay proponents of Proposition 8 have filed their opening brief with the Supreme Court.

Tigers versus snow man
Towleroad points up this very cool video of four Amur tigers at a safari park in Wiltshire, England.
The snowmen were set up with hidden cameras to capture how the tigers might react.
I find tigers to be fascinating. No matter how often you see these huge cats on TV, seeing them in person at a zoo or wildlife park is a completely different experience. Their size, power and focus is awesome.
Beyonce’s Inaugural “lip-sync” scandal
So, word got out yesterday that it just may be that Beyonce’s fabulous performance at the Inaugural festivities may not have been live singing. From reports out there, it appears that Beyonce was concerned about nailing the song at such an important event, so she reportedly chose to sing to a recorded version of her own vocal.
All this put together, what do you think? Does this “cheapen” the performance the world seemed to regard so highly? Or does it not matter since it was still Beyonce’s voice?
One thing I will add: this kind of thing happens far, far more often than the pubic knows. Many spectacular “performances” we’ve seen over the years have been exactly the kind of scenario described above.
So what do you think? Big deal or no?
Petition: Ask President Obama to file brief to uphold Prop 8 repeal
Equality California is asking their supporters to sign a petition urging President Obama to file a brief in the upcoming US Supreme Court case:
When the President acknowledges your love during his inaugural address, when he makes your equality a benchmark of America’s promise, when he draws commonality from our struggle for dignity and justice to Seneca Falls and Selma, it is impossible not to surge with gratitude and wonder at the progress we have made within the span of a generation.
But, as President Obama said, our journey is not complete. We cannot yet enjoy the freedoms promised; while we can see the hill, we can’t yet rest there. For all of us who heard those powerful words yesterday, thankful and hopeful, we can now help President Obama take the next step on our journey, a journey that is incomplete until all Americans can marry the person that they love.
Please, take a moment and urge President Obama to file an amicus brief in Hollingsworth v. Perry, the Proposition 8 case. He knows that this is the path the country must take to achieve the promise of equality; take a moment to encourage his hand to follow his heart.
The “eyeroll heard round the world” explained
After video hit the internet showing Michelle Obama apparently rolling her eyes at a comment made by Speaker of the House John Boehner, Inside Edition thinks they have it figured out.
President Obama gave up cigarettes three years ago. Boehner is a known chain smoker.
Our lip reader, Wenig, caught Boehner saying, “Somebody won’t let you do it”, referring to Michelle, which prompted the first lady’s big eye roll.
