Lawsuit: Kim Davis Illegally Transferred Assets To Avoid Paying Gay Couple $560K Judgement

A new lawsuit has been filed against former Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis accusing her of illegally transferring property to family members in order to avoid paying a civil rights judgement to David Moore and David Ermold, a same-sex couple she denied a marriage license to in 2015.

Davis first drew national attention in 2015 when she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, citing her religious beliefs despite the Supreme Court’s ruling. She was briefly jailed for contempt of court after defying a federal judge’s order and later lost multiple rounds of litigation stemming from those denials.

A federal jury awarded the couple $100,000 in damages, plus about $260,000 in attorney fees and court expenses, totaling roughly $360,000 initially.

The lawsuit states Davis has yet to pay any of the amount ordered. With accumulating costs and interest, the total judgment and demand amount to approximately $565,285. Continue reading “Lawsuit: Kim Davis Illegally Transferred Assets To Avoid Paying Gay Couple $560K Judgement”

Mail-in voting

The Trump administration has asked the US Supreme Court to let federal officials move ahead with the president’s overhaul of mail-in voting ahead of the November midterm elections.

A Massachusetts appeals court upheld a federal judge’s block on the order last week, finding that it would “sow confusion” and “threaten disenfranchisement of many eligible voters.” Continue reading “Trump Asks Supreme Court To Allow New Limits On Mail-In Voting”

Pete Buttigieg (screen cap)

The false allegation that led Pete Buttigieg to be separated from his kids last month came from someone police later deemed possibly “mentally unstable,” according to official records.

Due to an unsubstantiated anonymous tip, Michigan authorities told Buttigieg in late June he could not be alone with his 4-year-old children until they could be interviewed away from their parents the next day. The children stayed with their grandparents who lived nearby.

It was a week after the initial tip to authorities that a Michigan child welfare worker told a Michigan State Police official that Indiana police informed her that the person who reported the allegation was a “mentally unstable woman in Indiana.” Continue reading “Report: Pete Buttigieg Accuser Deemed ‘Mentally Unstable’”

Trump Fumbles Through White House Correspondents’ Dinner Speech

Donald Trump bombs at White House Correspondent's Dinner

Oy… Donald Trump’s appearance at last night’s “take two” on this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner went just about how you would guess.
