“Listen, no one wants shootings. No one wants death. But we need a way to protect ourselves. We need a way to actually end it.
“And if you look at statistics, if you look at the FBI and their database, well, places where American citizens are not infringed on their Second Amendment rights and they are actually able to carry their firearm lawfully, well, there aren’t mass shootings.
“Because they are an armed citizen presence to neutralize the threat. They’re coming after your guns.”
As many folks on Twitter point out, mass shootings HAVE happened in states with open carry laws including Boebert’s home state of Colorado where the recent Club Q nightclub shooting left 5 dead and more than 17 more injured. Then there’s Texas where several large scale mass shootings have taken place including the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, where there were many “good guys” with guns but that didn’t stop the shooter from killing 19 children and two adults. And Nevada, where the 2017 Route 91 festival shooting in Las Vegas resulted in 59 dead.
