A group of blue-state governors has begun trolling South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) on social media after an episode from her upcoming memoir went viral about killing her 14-month-old puppy. In the excerpt made public yesterday, Noem explained that she took her dog “Cricket” to a gravel pit and shot her because the dog was “untrainable,” writing, “I hated that dog.” The Dems have been sharing pics of their family pets on social media with the caption, “Post a picture with your dog that doesn’t involve shooting them and throwing them in a gravel pit.” Below you can see the tweets from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker. In a statement first shared with The Hill, the DNC called itself the “Dogmocratic Party” and gave its response in the voice of dogs of Democratic owners.
“As DNC’s canine companions, we’ve heard a lot from our owners about just how extreme and dangerous Donald Trump and his far-right MAGA allies are — but nothing could prepare us for the truly disturbing and horrifying passages Kristi Noem willingly chose to put in her new book,” the statement said.
It continued, “Our message is plain and simple: If you want elected officials who don’t brag about brutally killing their pets as part of their self-promotional book tour, then listen to our owners — and vote Democrat.”
