Happy Heavenly Birthday To Broadway’s Thommie Walsh
I originally posted this on March 15, 2011, in tribute to my funny, talented, and dear friend, Thommie Walsh.
This is a very personal post for me. I share it each year in remembrance of his beautiful, magical spirit. When I first wrote these words, they were in tribute, but over the years, my feelings have shifted just slightly to “celebration.”
I’m oh-so-happy he happened. Today would have been Thommie’s 76th birthday. Continue reading “Happy Heavenly Birthday To Broadway’s Thommie Walsh”
7 Years In Prison For Assaulting Trans Woman + More News
Some news items I thought worth your time:
• The Advocate: Andre Karlow (above) has been sentenced to seven years in prison for assaulting a transgender woman. She suffered broken teeth, facial injuries, and a brain bleed before escaping into a nearby restaurant for help.

• Them: Thirty-nine percent of U.S. adults still believe homosexuality is “morally unacceptable,” according to a new report from the Pew Research Center. That placed the U.S. ninth among all countries surveyed by rate of anti-gay sentiment, between Israel (47%) and Hungary (34%). Musical Memory: Leslie Uggams Sings ‘Love, Look In My Window’ From HELLO, DOLLY!
Back in 2008, I choreographed a production of HELLO, DOLLY! at Houston’s Theater Under The Stars starring Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams and directed by Lee Roy Reams.
I came across this audio recording today and tons of very happy memories came flooding back.
I thought fans of Broadway musicals might be interested not only in Leslie’s amazing vocal performance, but how a “cut” song from a Broadway show found its way back to the stage. Continue reading “Musical Memory: Leslie Uggams Sings ‘Love, Look In My Window’ From HELLO, DOLLY!”
