McCarthy Won’t Give Senate Funding Bill A House Vote

The U.S. Senate advanced legislation on Tuesday evening that would continue to fund the government through November 17 and avoid a government shutdown this weekend. The legislation was passed by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 77-19. But Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) informed GOP House members this morning that he doesn’t intend to bring the Senate’s continuing resolution to the floor for a vote. HRC Ad: ‘Reject Politics Of Hate And Get Back To Work’

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ civil rights group, is launching an ad campaign highlighting House Republicans’ dysfunction leading up to the impending government shutdown. The 30-second spot, part of a six-figure ad buy on major national outlets, calls on voters to tell their representatives in Congress “to reject the politics of hate and get back to work” to prevent a shutdown.
