Upcoming GLEE – getting a bit romantical

TV Line’s Michael Ausiello has dumped a number of big spoilers from Glee’s upcoming sex-themed episode, which promises some groundbreaking gay events.

Gleeks MUST tune in for next week’s episode of Glee, called “The First Time.”

No sooner does Grant Gustin’s gay Warbler debut than he sets his sights on Blaine.  He’s got charisma to spare and tons of chemistry with Darren Criss.

When Sebastian invites Kurt and Blaine out to local gay haunt Scandal, Kurt runs into his old nemesis at the bar. Apparently, transferring to a new school has done wonders for the bully’s disposition. He’s mellowed out considerably and coming to grips with his sexuality. It’s my favorite scene of the episode and should fire up those Kurt-Karofsky ‘shippers out there (and I know you’re out there).

Entertainment Weekly’s Tim Stack also writes up the episode:

“It’s all handled very delicately and is incredibly moving. I can’t think of another network series that’s taken a teenage gay relationship so far or been so progressive. The moment is instigated when another teen, Warbler member Sebastian (Grant Gustin), aggressively pursues Blaine. The trio actually have a very amusing triple date to West Lima’s only gay bar Scandals and run into none other than Karofsky (Max Adler). Look for a great moment between Karofsky and Kurt.”

Occupy Chicago heckles Wisconsin Gov. Walker

When Wisonsin Governor gave a speech at Chicago’s Union League Club the morning of Nov 3rd, he has some unexpected guests: Stand Up! Chicago

I think this is great. All the folks participating paid to get in, and then used their voices to make a point.

I have no problem with people getting rich, but when the gap between average workers and CEOs grows and grows at an incredibly exponential rate, there’s a problem.

According to the AFL-CIO, in 1980, CEOs at the largest companies received 42 times the pay of the average worker. In 2000 the gap hit a high, with CEOs making 525 times the average worker.

In 2010, the gap narrowed a bit with CEOs making 343 times the average worker.

“Despite the collapse of the financial market at the hands of executives 3 years ago, the disparity between CEO and workers’ pay has continued to grow to levels that are simply stunning,” said Richard Trumka, AFL-CIO president.

Why can’t average worker’s salaries keep pace with CEOs? Or at least something closer to parity? Yes, CEOs are running the companies, but clearly the vast majority of profits are going to the very top execs and the folks doing the actual labor are NOT seeing a fair share of profit through their participation.

Ricky Martin granted Spanish citizenship – marriage on horizon?

Out singer Ricky Martin, who hails from Puerto Rico, was granted Spanish citizenship today, according to El Pais.

The star, who came out in 2009 reportedly wants to take advantage of Spain’s gay marriage laws.

Spain passed legislation allowing same-sex marriages in 2005, only the third country to do so at the time, with 20,000 gay couples entering into marriage since.

He had requested a special “letter of naturalization” of the Spanish government—which would enable him to bypass the usual steps to citizenship—in order to take advantage of the country’s same-sex marriage laws and marry boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez Abella. The two are raising twin 3-year-olds.
