Carol Channing: Larger Than Life
Entertainment One US will release CAROL CHANNING: LARGER THAN LIFE in New York and Los Angeles on January 20, 2012, with additional markets to follow.
I’m very happy to say I’m in the film speaking with my fellow “Hello, Dolly!” cast members about working with Carol and how much we love and respect her.
Performing with Carol for over two and a half years was one of the happiest things I never planned for in my life. Opening nights were an incredible experience – especially on Broadway when the audience gave Carol the longest standing ovation I’ve ever seen. She was an absolute pro to work with and truly gifted. There’s a reason why she’s had such a lengthy career.
The film, directed by Dori Berinstein (ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway, Some Assembly Required, Gotta Dance), examines the life and career of the Tony Award-winning Broadway legend – her extraordinary stage life, her offstage struggles and survival and the extraordinary storybook romance that found her reunited with her junior high school sweetheart after over 70 years.
On top of her long, long career, she’s given much of her time to help charitable organizations like Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and raising awareness of the value of the arts in public schools. When we were on the road with “Dolly” the cast put together a “Chippendales”-esque show that we would perform after “Dolly” performances to raise money for AIDS charities – and Carol insisted on making an appearance at those shows to help raise money.
In the film, in addition to lots of clips from her life, captures the rehearsals for last year’s “Gypsy of the Year” event which is an annual fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The opening number was in honor of Carol, and the organizers brought several members of the 1995 Broadway revival of “Hello, Dolly!” to perform with her. Lucky for me I was next to Carol the whole number, reveling in being onstage with Carol again.
If you see the film open near you, I highly suggest you go see it. Carol is charming as ever, and many stars speak about Carol and her amazing career. AND I get to tell a very heart felt story about Carol and a member of our revival who was ill. You’ll have to see the film to watch me tell the story.

Caroling use to be fun event that friendly American loving neighbors use to do to spread Christmas cheer to one’s town. Now caroling has been turned into a door to door shopping extravaganza for gays to be able to peek into your homes and count how many untouched children live inside their neighbor’s homes. Homos will now insert themselves into the local caroling squads and take notes of the child’s eye color, hair color and cut, height, smell and if they have a soft or rough skin tone.
Santa
Ah, the fat old man who brings lovely gifts to non sinning children is now being turned into a hunk of fire burning homogayness who is now decking the halls with bounds of sugar plummed anal sin and jolly homo ecstasy laced candy canes. The gays are slowly trying to convert the image of Santa from a happy Grandpa, to a sin cave docking jellybean so your children will be more comfortable when a strange man with iron pecks and chiseled jaw lines comes up to them and asks if they want to come the workshop and play with the North Pole. The gays are hoping this new marketing strategy will increase the child to man love success rate in suburban America.
Mistletoe
Gays will find any excuse to lick the musky candy sac of another man, so now the gays are openly walking around with mistletoe strategically placed above their holly jollies in hopes that trains of suckling street homos will line up to give their package a peck under their zipper’s mistletoe.
Sarah Palin only criticizes President Obama’s Christmas Cards – but what about GOP Prez’ Christmas Cards?
Recently, Sarah Palin, the former half-term governor of Alaska, criticized this year’s White House Christmas card calling it “odd.”
She went on to wonder why the president’s Christmas card highlights his dog instead of traditions like ‘family, faith and freedom.'”
Palin said a majority of Americans prefer “American foundational values illustrated and displayed on Christmas cards and on a Christmas tree.” With regard to the card, she added, “It’s just a different way of thinking coming out of the White House.”
And yet – Ms. Palin never mentioned several OTHER White House Christmas cards. Like the ones from GOP Presidents past that have no mention or images of “faith.”
I imagine these would raise Ms. Palin’s ire too? And yet – no mention of these…

Poll: President Obama over Romney or Gingrich in NV
From a poll commissioned by the largest (and right-leaning) newspaper in Nevada.
President Obama leads Romney by 6 points, Paul by 20 and beats Gingrich by 22.
Nevada is one of those all-important swing states that will most probably decide the election.

Navy homecoming kiss is gay in a historic first
The dock landing ship Oak Hill, deployed for three months in Central America, returned home today. As part of Navy tradition, one person is chosen to be the first off the boat to kiss a loved one.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta was chosen, and her girlfriend, Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell, was waiting.
The Virginian-Pilot reports:
As the homecoming drew near, the crew and ship’s family readiness group sold $1 raffle tickets for the first kiss. Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta bought 50 – which is actually fewer than many people buy, she said, so she was surprised Monday to find out she’d won.
Her girlfriend of two years, Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell, was waiting when she crossed the brow.
They kissed. The crowd cheered.
And with that, another bit of homophobia dies. Society evolves.
