‘GLEE’ goes ‘GREASE’ with ‘Summer Nights’ cover
Now that Sam has returned to McKinley High and “Glee” is addressing his summer romance with Mercedes, it seems pretty fitting that the former couple would cover the most famous showtune about seasonal loves — “Grease’s” “Summer Nights.”
The “Glee” version, which just leaked online, is pretty faithful to the original, with the respective New Directions members spilling all to their groups of friends.

Clearly there are evil forces working against bloggers trying to kill an abundant supply of material.
I must say though that Ladybird Bachmann looks lovely in his pink shirt and tie. How apropos.
John McCain says President Obama bankrupting USA

Today, while endorsing Mitt Romney in New Hampshire, John McCain – failed GOP presidential candidate in 2008 – accused President Obama of many things including ruining the US economy.
I think Sen. McCain may be confused. Check out the graph above. The red shows the job loss month by month before President Obama took office. It shows the country losing hundreds of thousands of jobs a month.
Now notice the navy bars. Month by month after President Obama took office shows marked improvement. The job losses slow down and then reverse into clearly position territory with private sector jobs being created. The US has now had 21 months of improved employment growth.
Sen. McCain may want to check again on “who” exactly destroyed the US economy. In fact, it wasn’t President Obama. It was eight years of President Bush and his policies.
For anyone who says the US is heading in the wrong direction, look again at the graph. Would you like to go with the red bars or the navy?

How to be a gracious bitch
Jennifer’s wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement – not even her parent’s nasty divorce.
Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear, and would be the best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!
A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father’s new, young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother!
Jennifer asked her father’s new young wife to exchange it, but she refused. “Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I’m wearing it,” she replied.
Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, “Never mind sweetheart. I’ll get another dress. After all, it’s your special day.”
A few days later, they went shopping, and did find another gorgeous dress for her mother.
When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, “Aren’t you going to return the other dress? You really don’t have another occasion where you could wear it.”
Her mother just smiled and replied, “Of course I do, dear… I’m wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night BEFORE the wedding.”
Gov. Gregoire proposes legislation to legalize gay marriage
Gov. Chris Gregoire of Washington state announced on Wednesday she’ll put forward legislation to legalize marriage for gay and lesbian couples.
The proposal will be introduced during the legislative session that starts Monday. If it’s approved, Washington would become the seventh state to legalize gay marriage.
“It’s time, it’s the right thing to do, and I will introduce a bill to do it,” Gregoire said. “I say that as a wife, a mother, a student of the law, and above all as a Washingtonian with a lifelong commitment to equality and freedom. Some say domestic partnerships are the same as marriage. That’s a version of the discriminatory ‘separate but equal’ argument.”
“Our gay and lesbian families face the same hurdles as heterosexual families — making ends meet, choosing what school to send their kids to, finding someone to grow old with, standing in front of friends and family and making a lifetime commitment,” Gregoire said. “For all couples, a state marriage license is very important. It gives them the right to enter into a marriage contract in which their legal interests, and those of their children if any, are protected by well-established civil law.”
Currently, gay marriage is legal in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Iowa and the District of Columbia, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Justin Timberlake to portray Elton John in bio-pic?
Justin Timberlake may be dressing in lavish costumes, platform shoes, and outlandish eyeglasses if Elton John gets his way. The singer-actor is apparently Elton John’s number one choice to star in a planned musical based on the veteran entertainer’s life.
John says he has compiled a list of actors he’d like to see play him in the planned musical film. “No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of ‘Rocket Man’ and was superb,” he says.
The performer says he may write new songs for the film, but it will mostly utilize his vast catalog of hits to tell his unconventional story. “Because it’s going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge!” John reveals. “I just don’t want it to be a normal biopic because my life hasn’t been like that. And it only goes up to when I go into rehab in 1990. It starts with me going into rehab and ends when I come out.”
John says he has a screenplay written by Billy Elliot’s Lee Hall and a director he’s excited about and plans to announce soon.

Concord Monitor: “Don’t tamper with same-sex marriage law”
Excellent editorial in the New Hampshire Concord Monitor yesterday. Well-written and spells out why same-sex marriage should NOT be repealed in the state. In the article, the paper addresses some of the traditional arguments made against same-sex marriage. Here are just a few:
• Marriage is between one man and one woman. This is more of a declaration than an actual argument. In fact, it’s a declaration of bigotry. After all, who gets to define marriage? Those already married? Without a compelling reason to deny marriage to gay people, a statement like this is hard to take seriously.
• But marriage has been restricted to heterosexuals for thousands of years. Many traditions outlive their usefulness. Slavery was an ancient practice too, after all. So was barring women from participation in politics. Once upon a time, people with disabilities were routinely locked away in institutions. Mercifully, times change.
• Marriage is for procreation. In many cases, yes. But infertile, straight couples marry all the time. So do those uninterested in having kids. Those past their child-bearing years aren’t forced to divorce. Having children isn’t the only thing that brings couples together.
As the GOP nominees head to New Hampshire, and the state legislature gets ready to debate repeal of marriage equality, this comes at a good time.
