Freedom To Marry’s Evan Wolfson took on NOM president Brian Brownshirt usual lies and distortions about marriage equality yesterday during an appearance on a local NYC politics show.
I encourage everyone to watch this. If you aren’t aware of the arguments (lies) NOM makes on a daily basis, you see them in action here. Brian Brown isn’t very good at much other than repeating NOM’s talking points. AND you see Evan Wolfson bat them all down one by one in a calm, logical manner.

Last night on The Candi & Randy Show, we discussed creative, possibly ‘budget’ ways to celebrate this coming Valentine’s Day. It’s not about how much money you spend – it’s the thought that goes into it that makes the impact.
You’ve got a week to come up with some ideas or plans to either ‘wow’ your someone special OR to make plans to pamper and enjoy yourself, which is always a good plan.

Midfielder’s Martini
2 oz Belvedere Unfiltered
Dash Dolan Vermouth
Stir over ice and strain into a chilled martini glass
Garnish with a black olive
Belvedere Blitz
1.5 oz Belvedere Unfiltered
½ black pepper simply syrup
Âľ oz fresh lemon juice
Pinch of black pepper
Shake and strain into and ice filled highball glass and top with Fever Tree soda.
The Belvedere Vince Lombardi
2 oz Belvedere Pure
Top with Fever Tree Tonic
Build over cubed ice. Garnish with a lemon and lime wedge.

New York Giants punter Steve Weather shows off his amazing ripped body and shares his secret to looking good in the pages of Men’s Fitness. He says: “My mind will not let my body stop me from working out.”
If only my mind could speak to my body that way…
If you watch this year’s Super Bowl, you’ll see a rare sight – two of the most gay-friendly teams in all of professional sports. Both the New York Giants and the New England Patriots have strong reputations for equality.
Steve Tisch, owner of the New York Giants, filmed a video for HRC’s New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign in 2011, saying, “I am proud to join the chorus of professionals in sports working for fairness both on and off the field.”
Former Giants star Michael Strahan, now a football analyst for Fox Sports, recorded a video as well, saying he feels “it’s unfair to keep committed couples from getting married.”
On the Patriots side, they were the first team to send a representative to the Gay Bowl, the championship game for the National Gay Flag Football League, according to Outsports.
Also, Patriots safety Bret Lockett showed his support for equality by posing for the NOH8 Campaign last year.
Whether you root for the Patriots or the Giants, know that you’re rooting for a team that hails from a place that embraces marriage equality. How’s that for a level playing field?

In Glamour magazine, Cyrus opens up about why it is so important for her to be a supporter of equal rights, and acknowledged the backlash her tattoo had caused.
“Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry,” she said. “And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do—you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach.”
The actress explains that she feels that taking away rights in the gay community makes for a difficult living situation as a couple since they wouldn’t be granted the same security. She says it’s not too different from stripping rights in the black community.
“I believe every American should be allowed the same rights and civil liberties,” she added. “Without legalized same-sex marriage, most of the time you cannot share the same health benefits, you are not considered next of kin and you are not granted the same securities as a heterosexual couple. How is this different than having someone sit in the back of the bus because of their skin color? …We all should be tolerant of one another and embrace our differences.”
