When Anthony Catanzaro was 15 he transformed a room in his parents home into a gym. His sister purchased a complete weight set for his 15th birthday. Anthony spent his own money to buy a bench, and the rest.. well that’s history.

Anthony got into Male Fitness modeling at the age of 18 and he continues to have a very busy schedule to this day. He has appeared in many tv shows, movies and print ads.

Andrew Breitbart loses his mind addressing Occupy protesters

Perhaps more than any of the conference’s guests over the years, Andrew Breitbart has emerged as a unique figure at CPAC, partly for his ability to work the CPAC crowd over the job President Obama has done while in office. But much of it has to do with his work at CPAC outside of his speeches – his ability to engage just about anybody.

Last night, Breitbart walked outside the hotel hosting the conference to address Occupy protesters, demanding they “behave yourselves” and “stop raping people.”

While there is a great deal of yelling going on in this video, Breitbart sticks to a few main sentences: “behave yourselves,” “you are freaks and animals,” and “stop raping people.” Meanwhile, some of the protesters can be clearly heard chanting “racist, sexist, anti-gay; right wing bigots, go away.” Finally, the police show up and drag Breitbart from the crowd.

For those sympathetic to the Occupy movement, the image of Breitbart being held back while yelling the same sentences over and over at a somewhat bewildered crowd will resonate as more evidence that Breitbart is angry and not worth listening to.

This is an example of why people like Breitbart might think twice before appearing in public while intoxicated or off their meds.

Breaking: Whitney Houston dead at 48

USAToday is reporting Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music’s queen has died. She was 48.

Over the span of her career, Houston sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos, and won two Emmy, six Grammys, and 30 Billboard Music Awards.

Houston became one of music’s most successful singers in the late 1980s and 1990s, with hits such as “Saving All My Love for You”, “How Will I Know”, “Greatest Love of All” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).” She had seven straight Billboard No. 1 hits in the 1980s.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.

At her peak in the 1980s and ’90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world’s best-selling artists.

Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”

I choose to remember the greatness, the grace, the brilliance of her talent.

My best friend Matt Zarley and I would make an event of her late 80s/early 90s TV appearances. We revered her. I adore her voice. At the height of her career, she was the greatest pop voice ever heard.

It is my great and sincere wish that she has found peace.

Blythe Danner cast in new ABC series “Gilded Lillys”

Tony Award & two-time Emmy Award winner Blythe Danner (Huff), Madeline Zima (Californication) and Sarah Bolger (The Tudors) have joined Shonda Rhimes’ period drama pilot Gilded Lillys.

Written by KJ Steinberg (Gossip Girl, The Nine) and set in 1895, Lillys follows the opening of the first true luxury hotel built in New York City, along with the family who owns it, the staff who work it and those who stay there.

Danner will play Caroline, the ruthless and wickedly funny widowed grandmother. Bolger will play Violet, the virginal, beautiful and rebellious daughter who has a devoted personal maid Abigail (Zima).

Rhimes has a long-standing relationship with the network whose collaborations include Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and the upcoming drama Scandal.

Maine Caucus results

Mitt Romney has won the Maine Caucus with 39%

Ron Paul received 36%
Rick Santorum received a distant 18%
Newt Gingrich received 6%

The results are non-binding and no delegates are awarded at this time, often referred to as a “beauty contest.”

However, it does give a snapshot of where the Maine GOP community stands today.  And it gives Romney a bit of a respite from his three big losses earlier this week.

Help the One Anchorage Initiative

The One Anchorage Initiative simply provides to gay and transgender Alaskans the same legal protections that are already provided to other persons in Anchorage in employment, financial practices, housing, and restaurants, department stores and other businesses.

For over 30 years Anchorage Municipal Code, Title 5, Equal Rights, has ensured equality for Alaskans who live, work and shop in Anchorage. It provides legal protections on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status, age, or physical or mental disability.

Today, most – but not all – hardworking Alaskans are protected from being unfairly fired. For example, no one can be fired from a job solely because they are married or single. It is illegal to refuse to interview a job applicant because the business owner doesn’t like Christians, Jews or Muslims. You can’t be denied service in a restaurant because you’re African-American, Asian, from South America or Alaska Native. You can’t be turned down for a credit card or bank loan because you’re sight or hearing impaired.

However, these legal protections that most of us rely on everyday do NOT protect gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender workers. Right now in Anchorage NO STATE OR LOCAL LAWS OF ANY KIND protect people from being unfairly fired or refused an interview because of being gay, transgender or straight.

In Anchorage, a woman can be fired solely because her employer believes she is a lesbian – for reasons having nothing to do with her job performance.

One Anchorage believes – as did the founders of the Municipality of Anchorage – that fair and equal treatment for ALL by our city’s laws is the best policy.

Texas Rangers Derek Holland does the weather

Texas Rangers’ Derek Holland relieves WFAA Channel 8’s chief meteorologist to let the folks in Dallas-Fort Worth know what they should expect in the coming week.

What followed was a clinic on how to be a goofball Major League Baseball player who reads the weather for a local news broadcast.

I think he’s pretty funny winging it. Good for him for having a sense of humor.

Mitt Romney wins CPAC Straw Poll

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is the winner of the Conservative Political Action Conference Straw Poll, The Washington Times reports.

The poll provides an indication of where the party’s base is — and it is solidifying behind Mitt Romney.

With Rick Santorum’s three wins earlier this week in Nevada, Colorado and Missouri, some in the GOP were concerned Santorum could actually pull off an upset and become the eventual GOP nominee.  This worried some as Santorum’s policies are very far to the right and could have trouble winning voters in a general election.

Romney won the Straw Poll with 38 percent of the 3,408 votes cast. Rick Santorum followed with 31 percent, Newt Gingrich with 15 percent, and Ron Paul with 12 percent.

In a separate national poll of conservatives, Romney took 27 percent of self-identified conservatives, just ahead of Santorum’s 25 percent.

The Washington Times, the poll’s sponsor, notes that Romney’s total is the highest since then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush won the straw poll in 2000 with 42 percent of the vote.

Excellent commentary on marriage equality – Elizabeth Danu

Terrific article on the eventuality of marriage equality on Yahoo News by Elizabeth Danu. Here’s just some excerpts:

Despite the efforts of conservatives who fear that allowing gay couples the dignity of marriage will cause an apocalypse, the tide is turning relentlessly toward allowing gay marriage. Like it or not, it’s here to stay. Washington is on the verge of becoming the seventh state to make same sex marriage legal, according to the Associated Press.

The legal process of making unfair discrimination going away has always been lengthy and difficult, but eventually it happens. It’s called progress. This morning I was listening to the radio to commentary about Proposition 8. The parallel was drawn between gay marriage and interracial marriage, which at one time was illegal. I’m sure somebody thought the sky would fall and the Earth open to swallow us all if we allowed people of different races to marry, but ultimately reason won out.

What will happen if same sex couples are allowed to marry? They will. So what? Now can we focus on something important, like fixing the economy, creating some jobs, ending global warming?

Women had to fight for the vote too, which in hindsight was absurd. Someday the absurdity of Proposition 8 will be just as obvious.
