Boxer Manny Pacquiao: Gays “must be put to death”
From LA Weekly: Manny Pacquiao, who lives and trains in Los Angeles, is probably in deep shit in this liberal city of brotherly love. That’s because the boxing champion said that gay men “must be put to death.”
Really. In a recent interview with the National Conservative Examiner the fighter quoted the Bible in relaying his feelings about President Obama’s support for same-sex marriage:
If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Pacquiao also said:
God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other. It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old.
Word is that the very married Pacquiao hasn’t exactly been by-the-book when it comes to his own union — allegedly. He has been linked in reports to a Filipina actress named Krista Ranillo.
Now you know, the Bible has some advice about adulterers too. Leviticus 20:10 says “If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.” So, IF Mr. Pacquiao is actually stepping out with Ms. Ranillo, I wonder if he sees the same punishment as appropriate?

President Obama teases David Beckham about his age and underwear line
President Obama welcomed the L.A. Galaxy pro soccer team to the White House today and singled out David Beckham about his age, as well as his fashion sense, Politico reports.
“Half his teammates could be his kids,” said Obama, adding, “It is a rare man who can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear. David Beckham is that man.”
As much as I like seeing Beckham semi-naked, I have to say I like seeing him here in a suit and tie. Really highlights what a handsome man he is.

President Obama on The View
President Barack Obama, appearing on ABC’s “The View,” spoke about his position on gay marriage and how he views the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act.
“Congress is clearly on notice that I think it’s a bad idea,” Obama said regarding DOMA during “The View” interview, which was recorded Monday morning.
Later in the day, at a New York City fundraising event hosted by Ricky Martin, Obama said he believes marriage equality “strengthens families,” and said the 2012 election would be about values — including “repealing DOMA.”
It’s been said that this election is going to be about values, and I absolutely agree. It’s about the economic values we have, about the values that I believe are what makes America so special — the idea that everybody gets a fair shot, everybody does their fair share, everybody plays by the same set of rules.
So everything we do — from Wall Street reform, making sure that banks aren’t taking risks with other people’s money that taxpayers may have to end up bailing out later, to repealing DOMA, to getting the DREAM Act passed, to investing in our schools, to rebuilding manufacturing in America — all of these things are designed to make sure that we’re restoring middle-class security for all those folks out there that are struggling for their small portion of the American Dream.
During the The View, Elizabeth Hasselbeck questioned President Obama about whether there were any real differences between the President’s position and Mitt Romney. He answered:
Colorado civil unions bill fails – again
Yet another attempt to pass civil unions in Colorado has failed, and apparently not because the legislation lacked the requisite votes.
During a special legislative session called by Gov. John Hickenlooper, the GOP-controlled House State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee voted 5-4 along party lines against the bill, which prevented a full House vote.
Just weeks ago, the bill, already passed by the senate, had cleared the House Judiciary Committee, gaining support from a key GOP member. Several Republicans had indicated that they would vote in favor, potentially reversing a failed attempt last year to pass civil unions.
But the committee vote killed that possibility. One GOP committee member who opposed the bill and has a gay son explained that a “yes” vote would have been at direct odds with a constitutional amendment against marriage equality passed by Colorado voters in 2006, the Denver Post reports.
Jay Z supports President Obama and marriage equality
Jay-Z has thrown his support behind President Obama’s marriage equality stance, CNN Political Ticker reports.
In a CNN interview, the hip-hop mogul said of the issue:
“I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back,” Jay Z told Poppy. “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.”
When asked if he is worried that the endorsement will cost President Obama votes, Jay Z issues an eloquent response. “I think it’s the right thing to do, so whether it costs him votes or not…again, it’s not about votes. It’s about people. It’s the right thing to do as a human being.”
