Tawny Heatherton returns in “Tawny, Tell Me True”

Here at The Randy Report we love all things Tawny.  So I was thrilled to receive the news that Tawny will continue her acclaimed “come-back” this summer in Provincetown.

Following on the heels of her sold-out holiday show in Provincetown last Christmas, and her critically acclaimed debut at the Laurie Beechman Theater in New York City this past February, David Drake’s newest theatrical creation ‘Tawny Heatherton’ will bring her blonde-swept brand of sunny, funny cheer back to the tip of the Cape for her very first summer-long engagement – with the premiere of TAWNY, TELL ME TRUE at the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown, MA.

With onstage musical direction by John Thomas, TAWNY, TELL ME TRUE opens June 17th and performs every Sunday at 10PM thru Sept 2nd in the Crown Cabaret Room of the Crown & Anchor, 247 Commercial Street. Tickets are $25, and can be obtained in-person at the box office, or online at www.onlyatthecrown.com. (Note: *No performance on July 8th.)

Written by and starring Obie Award winner David Drake (The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me), TAWNY, TELL ME TRUE marks the unheralded return of Tawny Heatherton, a lovably eccentric showbiz survivor and “one hit wonder” of the disco zeitgeist of the 1980s. In the show, Tawny sings and regales the audience with hilarious tales of her globetrotting life-on-the-road – including her headline-grabbing turn as the unwitting “Pyro Girl of Long Island,” her short-lived stint as a Hee-Haw “Honey,” and Tawny’s quest to reunite with her long-lost aunt Joey Heatherton, whom she last saw in the parking lot of the Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino. Oh, and of course, her abduction by aliens.

Check out video highlights of Tawny and her world.

And don’t miss Tawny’s music video of her 1980s hit “Run, Crazy Man”

Save GCB!

A petition is being promoted to send to the management of ABC Entertainment regarding their new show GCB”, currently shown at 10:00 pm on Sundays. (abc.go.com):

We, the undersigned, wish to show our eagerness for the show to be given a chance to prove itself for a second season and beyond.

If the viewers are given enough time to engage in this continuing narrative we believe they will become loyal, long-term fans of the show.

Thank you for taking the time to read this – here’s to many future successful episodes of “GCB!

The show is produced by Darren Star and stars Kristin Chenoweth, Leslie Bibb, Jennifer Aspen, Miriam Shor, Marisol Nichols and Annie Potts. Based on the “semi-autobiographical” novel Good Christian Bitches by Kim Gatlin, the series centers on a recently widowed woman who moves her family back to the upscale Dallas, Texas, neighborhood where she grew up.

It is very funny, and my husband Michael is already quoting lines from the show.

GAP under attack by One Million Moms for billboard featuring handsome men

One Million Moms – an offshoot group of the conservative American Family Association that actually is only 40,000 – is all mad about a GAP billboard in Los Angeles  featuring a gay couple.

Writes the group:

Speaking of companies who are choosing to be politically correct instead of focusing on selling clothes; GAP is also guilty. In Los Angeles, CA, GAP has a billboard located downtown that reads: “GAP- BE BRIGHT- BE ONE” with two homosexual men pressed together under a shared t-shirt. They are hugging each other and facing the camera cheek-to-cheek. “BE ONE” is in large letters which emphasizes the same-sex relationship.

GAP Inc. Brands, including Old Navy, Banana Republic, Piperlime, and Athleta, does not deserve, nor will it get, money from conservative families across the country. Supporting GAP is not an option until they decide to remain neutral in the culture war. GAP needs to seriously consider how their immoral advertising affect the youth of our nation.

Christians should urge for the removal of GAP’s offensive billboard in Los Angeles and any other city where it is located. GAP will also need to cancel any plans to use the “Be One” ad campaign elsewhere including store-front posters, its website, and in print magazine ads.

“Be one.  Be bright.”  An ad that promotes unity is being criticized.
SRSLY.

Maryland’s highest court allows divorce of same sex marriages permitted in other states

Maryland’s highest court ruled Friday that same-sex couples can divorce in the state even though Maryland does not yet permit same-sex marriages.

The Court of Appeals ruled 7-0 that couples who have a valid marriage from another state can divorce in Maryland. The case involved two women who were married in California and denied a divorce in 2010 by a Maryland judge.

The Court of Appeals issued the ruling Friday that couples who have a valid marriage from another state can divorce in Maryland. The ruling says Maryland courts should withhold recognition of a valid foreign marriage only if that marriage is “repugnant” to state public policy. The court says the threshold is a high bar that has not been met in the case that it ruled on.

The case involved two women who were married in California and denied a divorce in 2010 by a Maryland judge. Lawyers for the women told the Court of Appeals that is would be unprecedented for the state not to recognize gay marriages performed elsewhere.

New, bigger, better Magic Mike movie trailer!

And now, we get a little more to see.

You know what I mean when I say that, right?

Focusing on Alex Pettyfer’s character instead of Tatum’s love story, the new trailer shows a lot more strip club action — including a shot of all the guys in their thongs. Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and Adam Rodriguez are also seen in the video in various states of undress.

We also get a look at the guy’s routines, like Joe’s fireman act and Bomer’s Ken doll number.

Love the Chippendales “cuffs and collars” at 1:17

This movie is going to be fun.

Go ahead, watch it again…

Bono’s three year old Facebook investment pays off

By the close of trading today, Bono will become the richest rocker in the world, courtesy of Mark Zuckerberg and company.

Bono owns 2.3 percent of Facebook shares, through his investment group, Elevation Partners. The investment will be worth an estimated $1.5 billion by 4 PM ET — not bad for a $90 million investment back in 2009.

If you’re Bono, it truly is a beautiful day.

Nine year old takes on Westboro Baptist bigots

When nine-year-old Josef Miles spotted members of Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church doing their hate-mongering thing on the Washburn University campus in Topeka, he asked his mother, Patty Akrouche, if he could stage a small counter-protest to their message of intolerance.

With just a pencil and small notebook in hand, Josef took on the bigots with a succinct yet poignant proclamation: “God Hates No One.”

Let’s hear it for the boy!  Winner winner winner!
