Some news items you might have missed: • Instinct Magazine: The Australian Firefighters (above) are promoting their 2025 Calendar, raising funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation and various other charities and burn research projects. Since its debut in 1993, over $3.45 million has been raised. I am not mad at that 🙂 • GLAAD: Check out the trailer for Season 2 of Dímelo which features LGBTQ Latine comedians tackling tired tropes and media stereotypes head-on, all while sharing their hottest takes and messiest anecdotes in short 10 min. interviews. • The Advocate: On the anniversary of the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, a gay Marine Corps veteran speaks on why LGBTQIA+ military families—and the nation—can’t afford another Donald Trump presidency. • Trailer: Set in the 1960s, The Greatest follows a young couple who finds themselves crumbling under the pressure to uphold the image of a picture-perfect family: “Inhibited by his conventional life, a man named Jay is forced to confront his darkest secret when having to choose between a life of normality and authenticity.” Screening at the Out on Film Festival October 1. Available for screening virtually. • New York Times: Georgia’s GOP-controlled election board voted today to require hand-counting for all ballots after polls close on Election Day, which could delay the results for weeks causing even more post-election chaos. • Gr8erDays: The late, great Adam West would have turned 96 yesterday. The handsome actor had a busy career on TV beginning in 1954 and all the way through the uber-campy Batman series (1966-68). West became so associated with the caped crusader role that it slowed his roll for several years.
