“EXTRAVAGANZA – The Vegas Spectacular” Celebrates 500th Performance

One of the recent success stories in Las Vegas has been “EXTRAVAGANZA – The Vegas Spectacular,” the critically-acclaimed and five-time “Best of Las Vegas” award-winning production, which celebrated its 500th performance last night (November 9), inside the Jubilee Theater at Bally’s Las Vegas. I know economies across the planet were all affected by the pandemic, but Las Vegas – which exists and thrives on the concept of traveling to the city in order to “let go” in a way only Las Vegas can provide – was hit particularly hard. When the economic engine that drives the city – tourism, gambling, entertainment and good times – is shut down, millions of Las Vegans were affected – whether you worked on the Strip or not. So I’m happy to celebrate milestones reflecting how resilient the city and the Strip has been in coming back.

EXTRAVAGANZA had its first and only preview performance on March 14, 2020, before having to close the following day in compliance with state directives relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The producers then reopened on November 23 even as shows were faced with a maximum 50-person audience capacity per COVID-19 regulations. For months, EXTRAVAGANZA was the only large-scale production on the Las Vegas Strip to perform, playing to limited audiences as the producers wanted to make point that their show would survive the health threat. The show is now performing to full capacity audiences. The cast and crew, including America’s Got Talent alumni, crossbow artist Silvia Silvia and her husband, juggler Victor Ponce, celebrated the occasion with on stage photos with a “500th performance” cake designed by Showboy Bakeshop and a post photo shoot toast and celebration backstage prior to the performance.

The spectacular production is structured like a classic Las Vegas variety show featuring performances that showcase the talents of over 30 sexy and breathtaking artists from around the world. Dancers, acrobats, aerialists, skaters, comedians plus – the return of the iconic showgirl to the legendary Jubilee Theatre – are all part of the 90 minute “EXTRAVAGANZA.” Spectacular sets, massive LED screens and state-of-the-art holograms (which include some of Las Vegas’ most famous headliners, from Elvis to Frank Sinatra, among others), bring the classic format into 2021 while never losing that Las Vegas verve.

Amid glamorous costumes and sizzling dance numbers, the audience follows the show’s hero on his musical journey through the best of Las Vegas entertainment. From the heart-stopping “Globe of Courage” motorcycle act to a stage filled with aerialists, acrobats, dancers and, the iconic Las Vegas showgirls, audiences are sure to enjoy the sexy and unforgettable revue. Congratulations to the cast, crew and producers of “EXTRAVAGANZA” for continuing to thrive.
